The biggest problem I have seen with Cisco SDN is the all or nothing approach. Instead of upgrading core switches and access switches as money comes available, we would have to upgrade everything at once. Hard sell regardless the benefits.

A network engineer needs to know his/her network, period. One engineer I used to work for always said, if you can't draw it, you don't know it. No tool can replace an engineer's in depth knowledge of their network.
