Any tool that has made it into the tool box is worth keeping around. I may not use it as often today as I have in the past, however sometimes it is still the correct tool for the job.

Great read. The folks at the ISC have some interesting tales to tell. It's the same concept as sharing Intel in the military. Makes me wonder about using social media for spreading counter intel. Set the trap and watch for intrusions. Just my inner Gray Hat thinking out loud.

I have to agree with tcbene. If you are logging everything, most people won't both looking through the logs for relevant data. Good to know. I've been working with Sidewinders since they were Secure Computing. Now that Raytheon has purchased the Enterprise Firewall and the Next Gen, we are looking for something different. Word is that Raytheon isn't going to continue support for Firewall Enterprise for much longer. Palo Alto?

With NPM we have some knowledge of what is working on our network. We will be adding NTA, SAM, and LEM soon. I can't wait to have a clearer view that these tools will bring to the party.
