We have a fairly large turn over of devices being monitored (store level PCs, switches, routers, soon we will be adding tills as well) where there is no resource within the team to stay on top of the changes (plus we will not be told when a defective PC or till, is swapped out or rebuilt, or if a store upgrades their IT…

I have a probe thats hitting a tcp port where latency is a lot higher than expected, when i run manual pings i dont see a latency issue so having ability to show the latency to a port and also ping would help me clearly identify that it isnt a network issue but an application issue.
-
At the moment just log the message to a log file via the batch file.
-
:) Thanks for trying! this could be a Cisco ASA syslog specific issue ..
-
Thanks, i'm trying that; but that isnt working I guess its coming across another control character its misinterpreting.
-
Note, ideally this would also allow us visibility into which firewalls are seeing most of the traffic.

We renewed the week before so Smelly stuff happens, as long as we dont find out they sat on it longer than reasonable. I suspose it hammers home that we should be a little more restrictive on what websites we let servers talk to. I suspect I wont be removing the ACL mitigation I put in place (only allowing SW pollers to…

From what i've read the latest version is apparently harder to exploit but still vulnerable. But hopefuly someone more knowledgeable will answer. We're all still waiting on the patches to be released (in my case, up since 5.30AM UK time hoping to get our installations patched asap before i'm told to shut them down, and…

The assignment is via dynamic query and was set up well before the christmas break. Trying to push solarwinds for increased automation of resolving faults here , kinda hoping that importing new nodes (for example when we open a new store or the solution i'm monitoring is installed into an existing store) and adding them to…

Did this work for you? I tried this after finding this topic but when i goto the template check the assigned group it shows 0 nodes Regards Nigel

I think that 8.2(2).9 may have a problem with NTA 3.6, I've confirmed that the server Orion is running on is recieving netflow from the ASA and confirmed that our global network/sec op teams are recieving netflow on their QRadar box from the ASA but Orion isn't showing the data and believes the last time it received…

Updated the scheduled job to download the startup (I thought this was changed through the web ui not the GUI), however now the chart shows that 78% of my device running configs dont match the startup configs, but going through and comparing I dont see the difference?

We have a similiar requirement for our remote sites where we installed RAIDed hard drives (mirrored) but had no way of telling if one hard drive failed until the 2nd one died or a support tech noticed it whilst working on something else. So we're trialing solarwinds event forwarder, forwarding all windows event log entries…

This looks great, however if managements saw this I'd have to end up adding around 450 (and growing) sites dotted around the UK and Republic of Ireland, it would be good if 1/ there was a custom property field where I could add the post code of a site and 2/ you could use the post code to add the site to the right location…

Thanks superfly, NCM is backing up the running config, but not the startup config despite it being told to do so.

Costs would be an issue for VMAN/SRM at the moment. Dates increase over time, but budgets often don't Same ole story!!
-
No problem, sorry for the delay oddly enough things have been a bit hectic since the evaluation was succesful Thanks to Solarwinds Support for the help with this; One gotcha is, for some reason the NCM scheduled tasks had not run, so the inventory task against the node had not pulled back the details about teh interfaces…

i would also be interested in a manner where I can identify differences between a deployed asa/cisco 881G router and a gold standard template.
-
Thanks Jiri, are there any example scripts I can look at?
-
Thanks guys I'd love to try the google earth suggestion but I think that might be a bit too ambitious, for now I'm going with the firefox extension and displaying each store region (stores are all assigned to an area coach on a geographical basis, seems our development dept can generate maps based on these groupings). Just…
-
Good afternoon Caroline, Thank you for your reply, I will take a look however the display will be run from a PC hidden away in a cupboard, people wouldn't be using it directly so wouldn't be able to drill down through the map. It is just to display, graphically, the state of the store network. I personally think the aim is…

That looks interesting, I'm building a new config now for a new model C881 so will try that, kind of moving the bar but we have more than just Cisco routers out there, ASAs and PIXs dont support EEM and whilst I wish those PIXs would go ...... I still have to support the bleeding little, things.
-
'Fraid not, we had to go ahead doing the config changes manually rather than using NCM. From comments below sounds like this is going to have be requested as a feature request. Having this ability would be a big benefit as well for reporting on Cisco ASA licensing, we have 80 out in the field and occasionally a field…

Backups werent running at this time, I beleive an index job is run on Thursdays but no one here is aware of any other specific DBCC query that would run at this time.
-
Thanks Jiri but is there no way to keep the installations seperate? I wont be upgrading the software on the original server, I'll be installing a fresh server in a different data center and pointing it to the NCM database that the existing 7.1 installation is using.
-
Sorry for the delay, I meant using the OUI (first 3 character pairs) to determine the manufacturer of the device.

A trigger sends an email to our Touchpaper 6.6 helpdesk system which then opens a call, we are upgrading our Touchpaper system to ITBM software (from the same vendor) later this year and hope to be able to target calls to the analysts responsible. What we can't do with the current system (and I am not sure if we can with…

Update, found it, for some reason when I first tried clicking on the graph it didnt drill down, probably being too impatient. However, lot of the devices are showing as unknown, whilst most devices (180 PIX 501s and 120 or so ASA 5505s) are not IOS routers, we have 138 Cisco 800 series routers being monitored and 4 Cisco…

Is there any likely update for this request? We are migrating to Nutanixs next year with intention of moving off of VMware onto AHV as well. Assuming this migration goes well its possible we will migrate another datacenter to Nutanix, that current DC uses a Storwize V7000 which SRM supports (happily running a trial at the…

I don't suppose this has been added to NPM 12.1 ? *feeling kind of sad he's responding to his own question from 6 years ago*
