We have a couple products and I think I'm "New-ish" so I'd be glad to answer some questions.

Had a user complain that the computer was eating the CDs inserted. The user claimed they put a CD in the slot but when Eject was clicked there was no CD in the tray. Turns out the user was sliding the CDs in between the CD ROM casing and the chassis. When I opened the case I found several disks just laying in the case.…

Will you reset the question for the ones that saw a different number earlier today?

Working with "All of IT" is unfortunately the problem here. I've experienced on some occasions where business units aren't willing to work with us because they think we are just trying to point out what they have done wrong. I do like your final thought on that last comment. "Monitor of monitors." I like it. I may have to…

That should be an animated gif. Feature request??

Hey guys, I know this post is rather old but I have a related question that I'm hoping someone can answer. I've started installing FoE as the DR scenario across our WAN. I've cloned the core poller and copied it to our other location. I understand that the primary/principal NIC on the secondary server will have a different…

Should I be getting the following message? I have not answered todays question. "This survey is not accepting additional responses at this time. Thank You!"

Looking at upgrading my career to anything other than what I'm doing now and maybe a new driver for my golf bag.

bsciencefiction.tv I heard if you know someone in WSS you may can get a 2016 test server. Nice read. I will definitely be looking in to these "containers". While we're on the virtual topic, what happened to virtualizing applications? It seems like our desktop guys played with it for a few minutes and then let it go. Is…

As a field technician at the European Space Agency I was called in to a conference room full of scientists and engineers. They couldn't work out how to use the new fancy LCD projector that sat on top of the overhead prpjector (this was in the mid 90's). After a couple moments of evaluating the new technology, I decided I…

Yes. It's on right now. There was an email sent yesterday and this morning.

Thanks again for the reads. They went perfect with the morning coffee. What I want to know is, did the robot learn something from his escape attempt? Will he take spare batteries or an extension cord next time? ....and the shirt is classic.

Just like pbk13@psu.edu we use custom properties heavily for Advanced Alerts and Reports.

The advanced search wouldn't even need to be that complex. If one could use Regular Expressions in the normal search window, that would help tremendously. e.g. "ABC[PROD|TEST]123" would return ABCPROD123 and ABCTEST123 but not ABCQA123 or ABCDR123.

Great examples and so true but don't forget to enjoy your UK visit. bsciencefiction.tv swing by my desk if you want to see the movie.

All I can think about when I hear traceroute is a noob years ago that would pronounce tracert like "Tracer-T". Ha. Still makes me laugh.

Good stuff. Thanks chaps.

With better helpdesk applications come the possibilities of automation. I think the first three steps could almost be automated out of the loop. We've had the same sad product for almost 10 years and it's no better today than it was ten years ago so I can only imagine what we could be doing.

As a character Solo should win but as a captain there really isn't anyone that should have beaten Kirk or Picard.

Currently using Office Pro 2013 but just heard that our Software guys have a 365 package ready. So I might be running Office365 by the end of the day.
-
In a large environment where every area is handled by some other team it is extremely frustrating to try and prove what the root cause of an issue is. What I've learned in over 20years is that it's most likely not the network as the network guys will always tell me, definitely not the hardware or virtual setup like the…

Great reads. Thanks. On the 3D printer topic, we were debating why printer companies don't give large customers a 3D printer on-site for all the little plastic bits that constantly break on the cheaper commercial printers? We used to have printers out for days because of tiny little cogs and clips that can probably easily…

There was a lady complaining about her slow Wi-Five connection in the new office. We "upgraded" her to Wi-Six and she never complained again.

I too look forward to future instalments and agree that one can go a long way with a fancy report. Sad but true.
-
I'm with you on the "Supportability" part. With the right tools the helpdesk wouldn't have to transfer 80% of the calls to some system admin, which would allow the system admin to make better tools so that the helpdesk can resolve even more stuff.

Congrats to all new MVPs.I wish I had the time to knuckle down, contribute more and get back in the club.

Thanks again for the reads. I'm actually surprised that the Apple heist hasn't happened sooner.

I also like the new format a lot. Very clean and no extra tabs.
