  • If you've configured the device for SNMP access, than more then likely the device doesn't support the RFC MIB-2 requests coming from SolarWinds. To test this, you can open the PollerChecker.exe on the Orion server (in the software install directory) and attempt to see what MIBs/OIDs the device supports that SolarWinds…
  • From my experience with the software, this is not by design. Unmanaging pauses all data collection. As a work around here, we've added a custom property called Maintenance that has a yes/no option. We also have a criterion in all alerts for Node Maintenance is equal to no. As such, anytime we need to keep from alerting on…
  • I would have to agree with ken what change if anything? If you have a toolset license, the mibwalk tool can be useful to find out if the MIB/OID is different now.
  • EOC uses either local server or windows credentials for sign-in and not local accounts the way Orion does. I would recommend trying your windows account, or the local account used on the server when the program was installed. If all else fails, you can log into the server with your credentials and rerun the configuration…
  • What is the case number you have opened?
  • This bit of SQL should get you that information: Select AlertStatus.ObjectName as Object, AlertDefinitions.AlertName as Alert, AlertStatus.TriggerTimeStamp as Date_Triggered From AlertStatus JOIN AlertDefinitions on AlertStatus.AlertDefID = AlertDefinitions.AlertDefID Regards, Matthew Harvey Loop1 Systems
  • Dustin, This looks to have been purposefully removed from the Database Manager. Compacting a database can cause index fragmentation which may explain why it was removed. There are ways to do this using SQL management studio that I don't believe are as harmful to a database. If you have a DBA I would discuss having him…
  • OK so if anyone else runs into this issue, I'm not sure exactly what resolved it, but I did the following: List Resources Rediscovery And Update the Nodes table to set the NextRediscovery to a minute in the future so something like: Update Nodes Set NextRediscovery = '2014-12-24 08:46:00.000' where ObjectSubType = 'WMI'…
  • An update to this, I noticed within the database, that the servers that have this issue are showing no values for SysUpTime, and Next Rediscovery poll is way in the past. I'm going to try a few things and will repost if I find something, unless someone else has seen it before and knows what to do.
  • The link information in terms of what is assigned to a link is stored in the SQL database under MapStudioFiles. However, the control of colors is in the Network Atlas code, not in the SQL database. There isn't a way to change how the links operate through SQL. That is not stored in the database. Unfortunately a feature…
  • easiest way would be to use a group member alert and specify the name of the group. Now if each member needs to go to a different person/group, then you'd be better off creating a node custom property called EmailContact, assigning that to the nodes, creating the needed values, then in a node down alert, or any node alert,…
  • You should be able to just add the community into the read only section and leave the read/write blank. With VMWare, you will only get server volume information from the linux OS. All the VM specific data you need you will get from VMWare credentials, so in essence you could add the node as ICMP but include the vmware…
  • You can either rerun the additional poller installer or redownload it. You should also be able to download the poller version of NCM from your customer portal after choosing Choose Download next to NCM.
  • The "has changed" type is bound to the Last Boot and IOS alert types by design. It's going to show up in more alerts than that, but is not functional for these. I know this due to having seen the back end SQL in the Trigger Query created by these alerts when I worked at SolarWinds and out in the field deploying the alert.…
  • If you are running the latest version of NPM, 10.3, you should be able to create a Custom Node Table Poller alert, and specify a condition group where any of the following apply, then specify the RowID would be either 1, 2, or 3. This would limit the alert to only those specific rows. Regards, Matthew Harvey Loop1Systems…
  • The alerts themselves wouldn't be stored on the server, they're in the database. Do you have the alerts logging to a file as part of a trigger action? Are the actions properly configured? If not, then the logs themselves could be filling up with errors trying to send actions. Another possibility would be if you have AV…
  • From what I've been able to find, they are in the actual Universal Device Poller application on the server. You can edit a poller and set a polling interval. From what I've found, if you leave it blank, it uses the default statistics interval of the node. Regards, Matthew Harvey Loop1 Systems http://www.loop1systems.com
  • I don't think the version of SNMP matters, as long as SolarWinds NPM/NTA can communicate with the device via SNMP. The device needs to be managed, and within NTA you need to manage sources, find the device and place a check in the enable CbQos to enable the polling of what you've configured. That will hopefully get you…
  • I would look at the thresholds to see if there is on set to go into warning or critical based on memory and configure those. Then create your alert based on those thresholds.
  • You would probably have to contact your sales person to see if you could obtain an eval copy of this, if you don't own it. If you do own it, you would need to download it from your customer portal and run it as an eval. Otherwise, you'd have to buy a license for it.
  • B, I just worked on a deployment where this was an issue for HTTP monitors. Turns out there is a hotfix to resolve issues with case sensitivity that turned out to be the problem we were experiencing. The issue was being caused by case sensitivity which, in our case, was an issue with these monitors as they were pointing to…
  • If you are able to get these OIDs added via the Universal Poller, set the data type under the Advanced Settings as Counter. This will poll the device and report the delta in a similar fashion to how the ifInOctets and ifOutOctets are monitored. You should then be able to use a transform to take that value, multiply by 8 to…
  • In addition, go into the Web Console Settings in Orion under /Orion/Admin/Settings.aspx and make sure Windows Automatic Login is set for "Enable Automatic Login". Other things that may help depend on the browser. For IE and Chrome, most often times if the site is not recognized as an intranet site, it will just prompt…
  • If your database is truly 27GB then you've far exceeded the max size limit of MS SQL Express. If you have another server that has a full version of SQL, I'd honestly recommend you stop all Orion services, detach the database, copy the files manually, then move them to the full version of SQL. Once moved, attach the files,…
  • Is this for UDT User tracking? If so, then it needs full access to the Security Event Logs on the DC. If this is for WMI monitoring in NPM, the account has to be an administrative account per Microsoft's WMI requirements. Regards, Matthew Harvey Senior Sales Engineer Loop 1 Systems http://www.loop1systems.com Putting…
  • You might be able to using the SQL user experience monitors and SQL port monitors. I don't think the AppInsight applications would work though. However I believe SQL 2000 is end of life so it may be best effort with no real support.
  • They had a system in place prior to the acquisition. It would have been difficult I'd imagine to implement an entirely new system after the one they had was already set up to their needs.
  • If you select any of the interfaces and go to the Interface Details, does it show current traffic? Does it have set speeds on the port? Regards, Matthew Harvey
  • There isn't' a way to retro-actively set that. The best you can do going forward is unmanage the device during the scheduled window. Using regular unmanage options, you can set this up well in advance, or on the server using the Unmanage Scheduling Utility you can setup a recurring schedule.
  • You need to make sure your settings allow for the domain the user is in to submit email requests. I believe you also need to ensure that unknown users can submit new tickets.
