Danielle just for the record I have no add-ons and I've been seeing this sporadically.
-
I also created a custom property called WatchList. Nodes tagged with this property are automatically shown on a summary page in our NOC so our team can keep an eye out for problem devices such as one of the other users in this thread suggested. I fully agree some of this should be built in....I just don't always wait…

You are still receiving new ones from the same source????
-
Ok so you are sending traps from your solarwinds server to your solarwinds server. So those are coming from the box. Turn off the auth failure portion of the trap to stop those if you don't want them.

Was this repaired in SP1?

I could test the MIB database theory...I will install the latest database on my laptop for the toolset and see if the data I get changes.

I saw someone else mention one of those types of services. I was hoping we would be able to stick one at the equivalent of someone's house but it sounds like that would require a few extra steps. The EC2 type services would help but would give us limited testing. We have a few bigger markets we'd like to test from and our…

These are all good ways of accomplishing this however I would like to see SolarWinds integrate this feature. I have had the need to do this with other things than a script such as an SNMP OID.
-
Good news is that looks better I spot checked a few and SNMP is failing....bad news is that it returned 130 rows. Let's see who's on call for the wintel group :)
-
You definitely can. My biggest issues is that if I have 50 SNMP strings and the network I need to scan is setup as a specific one I have to manually remove 49 strings when I create the discovery. I have managed a server that had over 200 specific SNMP strings for different customers.

AutoRefresher for IE - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com AutoRefresher sorry....Like I said it was a long time ago.

Andy, Are all the URL Modifiers documented somewhere? I know of a handful from using the product for years such as &dataformat=pdf or &dataformat=excel are there others as well and where are they documented?

I opened a new thread for this since it affects NPM,APM,SEUM but the case # is 350334. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/thread/49635

That fixed the issue. Changing the chucksize to 100000 on all three of the stored procedures. The DBMaint only took about 20 minutes to complete which isn't bad since it hasn't ran since Sunday morning. With it running daily I shouldn't run into this anymore. Hopefully Solarwinds will address this in the next SP or hotfix.…

That is my issue. They are not set to trigger unless they have been down for 3 1/2 minutes. Problem is I am getting the resets even though the "Trigger did not occur"

Also this script will return multiple entries of the error if more than 1 is found in the log file.
-
If it is working you will simply need to wait for the total numbers of errors to reach 1000 in an hour since the alert was cleared.

I give up...no real troubleshooting done to see why this one view won't work and I'm told to do the standard remove/repair all components. Sure this might work but it's just masking the problem. I requested that the case be escalated to another engineer if that doesn't happen then I will just close it. I don't like being…

Thanks, Bshopp. Well hopefully others can use the same workaround I did until a fix can be made.
-
Workaround. Ok so I figured out a workaround to this issue that doesn't involve manipulating the database. I took my list of devices that I want to ignore and I created a discovery using ICMP only (for a quicker runtime) and used my list as the specific nodes for the discovery. Once the discovery was completed I simply…

When checking to see why a web server is running slow don't forget to look at your hard disk utilization especially the average queue length. I had similar problems with a solarwinds server running slow and found it was due to traps being sent to the server from the 2000 devices we were receiving from. While CPU and memory…

Trap viewer...however if the device isn't configured to send traps to your solarwinds server you will never see it.

Uggh....Driving in this morning.....Disturbed comes on the radio...RUINED....LOL thanks

We do have windows but the problem is every upgrade we are talking 2 hours because of multiple polling engines. I'm simply looking for away to minimize outages. In most HA scenarios you can upgrade one while the other is active. I was asked today if that would be possible with this software. We already have the HA licenses…

Yes our access switches are in a stack...adding the physical interfaces, the logical interfaces, the VLAN interfaces, and the volumes the list becomes quite staggering. Luckily I have already had carpal tunnel surgery on both wrists so I have that going for me...which is nice :D

Case 282626 is now also resolved. Working with one of the developers we replaced the wodSSHD.dll file in the C:\Windows\SysWoW64 folder....When I had worked with tech support initially we replaced this file but replaced the copy in the C:\windows\system32 directory which is not the right location for a 64 bit machine.…

It was a few years ago but I was told by someone in the forums to not use alert suppression in that manner (I don't remember the reasoning) they suggested instead in the alert condition to add a second condition group of none with the criteria I was using. I've never used suppression since.

Glad I published this I've used it a handful of times since I originally wrote it as well. Plus it's always fun to leverage a SAM template against a Cisco router

Sedmo, Would it be possible for you to post the SQL strings again but have it exclude devices with a blank sysname? I have about 200 devices that are ICMP only and the sysname on all those would be blank and I wouldn't want it to overwrite my captions. Thanks,
