I believe he is referring to simple but bulk changes to alerts. I had to do a similar task earlier this week and edit 37 different alerts for the same thing. I could probably have sat down and figured out a SQL query to make the necessary changes but out of the box there is no effiicent way to do this. In my example I…

Thanks for posting...I upgraded last week and wasn't aware of this issue...I just confirmed that all of my non NCM users now have webuploader rights....time to do some cleanup.
-
I test application alerts by reversing the condition. If I'm alerting on a down I change it to an up...If I'm alerting on a threshold greater than 10 for example I change it to less than 10...allows me to test almost any scenario.
-
May ping you offline about this...we are considering doing this very same task in the near future.
-
Yes that's exactly what I did was set the dynamic IP field to 1. However one word of caution. Before running the query after you have established your where clause you should ensure that all of the nodes have a valid entry in the DNS column of the node record

When the company I worked for first purchased Solarwinds about 6 years ago I went to a classroom training held by Corona Technical Services. I'm not sure if it's still offered or not. That was before all the online videos were available however.
-
That would be great. Thank you Nandish... Ideally not only would that image be removed but the PDF file name should have some semblance of the page name...right now it is a random number.

EOC is simply a management console for viewing multiple installations of Solarwinds from one centralized location. My former employer was a managed service provider and we had several instances of SolarWinds running and we used EOC to give our NOC a "one stop shop" so to speak so they could see everything from one. It has…

Not sure I understand what you are trying to do.

New release???? 10.3.0 is the only 10.3 release in my portal? Was this a hotfix or a patch?
-
I don't know about Prowl's thoughts but mine have been we haven't seen any tangible efforts around either of these functions for some time. You still cannot manage either of these two aspects from the web but simply acknowledge. I have remarked in threads prior that these systems needed work and while I have many aspects…

I'm a little confused where on the UI you're trying to do this. Can you explain more? When you "List Resources" for a node you have the option of selecting All, None, All Active Interfaces, All Volumes, All Interfaces: Andy, I'm referring specifically to the network sonar discovery not the individual node list resources…
-
IMHO the entire discovery ignore process needs a major overhaul. In watching the discoveries take place I could clearly see that devices in the ignore list are still scanned and then ignored at the end (making a discovery take much longer as a result) instead of being preloaded. I love the idea of being able to add items…

dnerdahl you might want to look at the SAM template I just uploaded for this very issue. It is a troubleshooting template and not your standard monitor. It's doing the following. Checking the memory in use by the service If greater than 1GB kicking off a procdump and then restarting the service. We are uploading the…
-
So we did make this change and the behavior still exists and the classic signs of a memory leak are still there. Any thoughts?
-
Can you look at my existing case? 523286 Thanks Jan.

Thanks that gives me a good ballpark. I would really prefer however if SolarWinds offered a calculator that you could plug in the modules, number of nodes, elements, etc and come up with a number. The documentation really doesn't address all the additional modules so I could see where someone could seriously undersize…
-
I agree...I have never seen a need to separate NPM & SAM. Provided you size your environment correctly you should be fine.
-
I did backup all of my files as a precaution prior to upgrading but I did not need them the upgrade was flawless.
-
I have a similar report that runs weekly that shows everything that will "remanage" that upcoming week to prevent any surprises.

SW support confirmed that it happens when a TAB is included in the message body. The sample I created was using SW trap editor in the toolset. I believe it started happening after 10.4.2 in our environment but to be honest I don't believe we ever ran 10.4.1.
-
It was the impersonation checkbox that fixed the issue. Odd that it worked without it for a local drive but wouldn't work without it for the CIFS share. Thanks for the help.
-
I'll go back to my original question...what is the memory utilization of your SW server. 4GB is awfully low for a server.
-
Thanks for the quick fix. I only wished I had gotten my servers patched to SP2 last weekend as planned then it would have been really quick.
-
Relationship?? Know your customers??? That's crazy talk...no one is going to go for that. Sorry for the snide comments but as a user of this product for 7 years I too have been regularly frustrated by this.
-
Simple solution Chris, which I have suggested several times before as this used to come up for me quite often as a MSP. Place trials within the customer portal so existing customers don't have to go through this. The original poster is correct it is very frustrating when this happens. I used to do demos for clients before…

zhollett, a few things stand out to me about your configuration. You have three polling engines polling approximately 1200 nodes and 11000 elements. Your SQL server could very well be your bottleneck if it only has 8GB of RAM. Have you looked into your SQL performance? MNPS's comment about checking the message queuing…

Jan, I have had a ticket open for about a week that is being worked by the developers. I'm pretty sure if this was fixed in 10.1 they would have informed me. If someone can provide me definitive proof that this is fixed in 10.1 I will be happy to upgrade.
-
The app didn't provide any better results. The app also doesn't do the connectivity information which is the main reason why we want to discover these nodes. I truly don't get why it fails...I watch it go through each device name in the network but when it finishes the only devices it discovers are the ones where SNMP…

Correct 10.4 fixed this bug issue...Thanks.
