I have actually had it happen probably about 10 times today. had never seen it before this morning.

Byron, Did you find any way to accomplish referencing the particular varbind and the data? I have a particular set of traps that I think is going to require doing just that to accomplish my needs.
-
Above are the trigger conditions. I do not really need to distinguish between the errors so I have it firing for any of the above being true. I have tried the reset condition when conditions are no longer true default with no success. By setting it simply to no longer true that means if any of those statements are no…

so that worked great for the historical piece but am I missing something? Is there not a way to do a multiple value statistic in a current report? I'm settling on two reports one to show current data and one to show historical.
-
Thanks I will try that again. I had looked at that but didnt see a way to hande the dynamic stats. worst case if this works I will just create a page with two reports.
-
No that was directed toward support . I know we have bottlenecks and I know that's part of the problem but to not be able to return 25 events when I can pull 2000 on another page is not a hardware issue.

Are there any access lists applied on the SNMP strings? It would look something like this snmp-server community public RO xx The xx represents a number at the end is the Access list. Used in this fashion it would only block SNMP but allow anything else. I believe it would be configured differently in the firewall but not…

Check your SNMP settings on the server....It sounds like you are sending traps to yourself. But that IP is the source of the trap.
-
This doesn't address your redundancy issue but to dispute Pacetti's post but we have 3 polling engines and all traps go to one....doesn't matter if the device is on that polling engine or not. As long as the source IP matches the IP in NPM it is properly correlated to the correct NodeID.

Where do I setup the Escalation? Under the email trigger action I believe For testing, I turned off one of my test server and it send out an alert that the server node is down. I turned it back on, but I did not get an alert that it went back up. On the Reset Condition Tab, I just clicked on "Copy from Trigger" and changed…

Bytes (I know ugly right)

Yeah with how Alterego explained it that is not possible in the manner it's configured. I wanted to do the same thing. As for the hoops I didn't initially realize it was only ESX servers or I think I would have gotten an answer quicker (at least I hope I would have)
-
Can anyone from SW Staff answer this question???
-
Do you have any documentation on this? I just tried searching and couldn't find anything regarding MS ending SNMP support in future releases.

TrapVarbinds is the table utilized for SNMP trapping. One method if you truly aren't using SNMP trapping is to disable the service (sorry I'm at home and don't have the actual service name handy). It sounds to me like one or more of your devices is configured to send traps to solarwinds. If this is not desired I would…

Mmedwid, I always make sure my admin account has the ability to edit views..that way you can edit any resource directly without having to go to the admin side. Just my two cents.

Here is a method I have used that can test via multiple gateways. Pick something like a public DNS server such as 4.2.2.2 or 8.8.8.8 Then in your solarwinds server add route statements pointing out your various internet gateways. Say you have two gateways. 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2 route add 4.2.2.2 mask 255.255.255.255…

Geez and I felt bad for adding a 4th poller today.....I agree this is something I'd love to see SW produce. I monitor my polling engines about once a month to see where we stand.

I believe he was looking to limit the custom property fields from view correct? I don't think this is possible today.
-
I could see that...about 10 years ago we had a script in our NOC that automatically checked the status and looked for key text for a small handful of websites and then emailed if it was down. It was written by one of our dev gurus so I have no idea how it was architected but it suited our needs.
-
It was a few years ago but I created a Vendor custom property and then wrote a SQL script to copy all Vendors from the original to the custom property excluding any listed as unknown and then had this run on a regular basis. Sure it was a workaround but it suited my needs.

This leads to the discussion of the need for more dynamic content that doesn't require a refresh like AJAX or Shockwave. Hopefully SolarWinds is looking in that direction. A full page refresh seems odd IMHO in this day and age.
-
That's all that I remember having to do...I worked with support to get that fixed so I would go that route if I were you.
-
I just added a UCS on port 443? Am I missing something here? Thought it was odd I had to tell it the port and HTTPS. This is the first UCS I have put into monitoring.
-
Brandon, Are there plans to get both the trap and syslog viewers into the WebUI? I'm not a fan of having my teams log into the servers to make changes to what traps are alerted/discarded etc.
-
Great then when I get around to it I can just install your template instead of trying to figure it out for myself.

Tomaz here is the query for the report. I tried to figure out how to include the color scheme but was unable to figure that part out. So what you are left with is basically a simple report for the last 50 events. While not as pretty as the built in the last 50 events resource that comes with SW was my # 1 most troublesome…
-
Michal, please see support case 428301 for the deadlock issue. Dev created a buddy drop that I'm putting into production today. As for other resources in working with our DBAs and their SQL monitoring application we found that some resources specifically the Last 25/50 Events page to cause many issues with long running…

No problem...glad to help.

Yes loading that URL should prompt to save a PDF...not sure what is wrong but I was curious if that would give you a temporary workaround.
