The best would be if you could set nodes into a maintenance mode where it would still collect statistics but those statistics would be marked that they were taken during maintenance. afterwards you would be able to report on overall availability or SLA availability! Someone buy that man a beer...that is an excellent idea…

I agree...we have created a way to put the node into a muted mode thanks to this post here. However I am working with a web developer to give me a front end to allow my users to schedule these maintenance periods.

This very issue happened to me again yesterday. I had downloaded the trial of WPM (we own it) so I could test it out before applying to production. This time the guy had pulled our account and still bypassed our sales rep and asked about a product that we had already evaluated and identified would not work for our company.…

I see you are trying to send emails to a distribution list named EUNetTeam. Distribution list is a feature of an Email Client (for instance MS Outlook). And it has no own email address. An Outlook client created distribution list doesn't have an email address.....A server based DL or Distribution Group absolutely does have…

Hımm. Then I misunderstood you. Anyway this problem also exist in the node management. :) Not your fault I just reread my initial post and realized nowhere did I say it was in the network sonar discovery.

This issue happened again after support had me to a repair of the Orion Core Services. I have opened a separate case for this issue for tracking 352361

I just tested and this is fixed in 9.5 SP2. Thanks Mean Joe

When I was confirming the bug, I tried "excel", "xls", and "excell" - all of which do the same thing. We also support options like "csv", "text", "xml", and others that I tested. All but the default html option were broken in my testing. Thanks Since you have confirmed the bug, do I need to open a case or will this most…

What is your alert action? Is it email? Do you also log as an event? If so check the timestamp on the event to see if you are facing any delays with your emails. The way you have the alert written it will take 2 minutes from the time Solarwinds marks the node as down to trigger the alert.

We did highly critical interfaces (approximately 100 in our environment) at 1 min intervals.

Yeah, if I can get my hands on a dev to write the code I need I'll do the same but haven't had the resources here available for me to do just that. I want to do it from a web ui and have it fully controlled for both on/off which is why I submitted the idea. Hoping to create a demand for it which is why I chimed in on this…

Let me give you another example. Say you are dealing with a circuit issue. You have a node going up and down constantly and the carrier can't fix the issue until Monday. You would potentially still want solarwinds collecting data so that you have a history of outage information (to potentially recoup money from the carrier…

We haven't scripted the mute/unmute on a schedule - although we've discussed it and call it a "blackout" feature, similar to unmanage. That's exactly what we are trying to accomplish. We are replacing an Openview suite and their ENotify product has the ability to schedule blackout periods for a device. So basically if I…

There is another thread that states this is now the new "FEATURE" when doing a discovery all interfaces are selected by default (supposedly to make it easier for customers...not sure how it was so hard to hit all but to each their own). This has already caused me several headaches due to not knowing about this and…

This is specific to individual members I think he is looking for members of only one specific group...so if he had 3 groups called, windows, linux, and network he only wants the windows group to get the alerts. This is why I suggested he also add the condition group name = windows to his alert condition.
-
I did not but good idea...I'll get to that soon and link it in this thread.
-
It is possible to set an alert action to send a trap to Solarwinds itself....the Trap Viewer allows you to set conditions not to act until X number of events occur. This may be a possible workaround but this seems awfully complex to take an alert to send a trap to then in turn trigger another alert? It is awfully…
-
I have not figured out a way to do that yet myself...If you do please reply with your findings. The interface name is in a separate table on the devices and I haven't found a why to do some kind of join on those two tables to link that information.
-
I never found a way to harvest this information. This was the exact thing I was trying to do but it's still an outstanding issue for me.
-
Thanks netlogix but that's not quite what I am looking for. I have several nodes that I have seen where the hardware type shows Virtual Host Unknown when I look at the node details. This tells me that I have discovered them via NPM but I have not discovered their associated ESX host. Everything in the VIM tables shows…

If the router is unaware Solarwinds will be unaware. Sorry but it has been about 8 years since I dealt with an FXO port on a Cisco so I'm going from memory. If the line is unplugged and you try and start a call do you get an error?
-
This is not entirely true. As someone that recently migrated to a new server I found all kinds of gotchas that weren't in the database. Reports is well documented that you should back that up however I also found these items. Unmanage tasks within NPM NCM scheduled jobs If you are running any custom scripts in your alerts…

Doug, Having access to not only the alert notes but also the acknowledgement info (who & when) are a valuable part of any auditing. I have had to go back numerous times to try to find information which is simply not available anywhere.

Bueller....Bueller....

Have you tried searching on anything else on that page? Could be the Access Denied is part of an image and the system can't read the text.
-
Well please update the thread if you get it working.....that is a very good idea to monitor your web filtering and I'm curious to know how it works out.
-
I have seen this both with SP2 and SP3, my issue turned out to be if I killed the services myself using service manger I got that error...If I let the update tool do it I was fine.....Why would it matter I have no clue but that was my experience.
-
Have you tried executing this query remotely using something like wbemtest? No I have not...however in my test case...the solarwinds server is the test node. That query works fine when I run it in powershell on the Solarwinds server but not when I test it from the APM interface.
-
Agreed in fact I'm working on a script to do it for me when the need arises.

Really hate that the system censors my use of the word K .I .L. L
