Is it all working now?
-
Hi Don, I'm checking on this one. May have a fix for it. Andy
-
Can you give me some details on what the alert says, where you are seeing it and what alerts you have enabled? Also version of NPM
-
I see - I'll move this to the report lab - lots of NPM report saavy folks there.
-
D'oh! ;)
-
I recommend you run a test on two similar interfaces and poll 1 at 1 min and 1 at 5 min. I have done this to demonstrate to clients that the data is almost identical. You can see shorter peaks with 1 min but the question there is what is the value of seeing these peaks? Short peaks with a rapid recovery are common and…
-
Keep in mind that it won't transition to a down state. If it does not trasition within 5 minutes please open a ticket so we can investigate further.
-
Wow! I am impressed with the CLI MIB walk. Most users don't know that is available or how to use it. That MIB is the RFC 2233 IF MIB which we do poll. I don't know why the dormant interfaces show as up. Can you administratively down them and see if the value changes. Also is this a support issue or pre-sales? I want to be…
-
Using an explicit reset condition can be tricky. I suggest you use the Reset when trigger conditions are no longer true option, and remove the suppression condition altogether.
-
That is a good point. We have an Internet only additional poller that makes this possible.
-
I was not aware that 8.5.1 is past end of support. If I were you I would backup the database and any custom HTML you may have created, carefully upgrade NPM and any modules following the Upgrade Instructions doc in the customer portal (click on License Management then go to any license for an Orion product and you will see…

Early releases of v5 did not support directionality but it has been supported the last few years.
-
Does your ISP specify a burst speed? You could have 30 guaranteed with a burst allowed up to XXX Mbps
-
I would try a packet capture on the Orion server filtered for the seed router. You should see a Get Bulk request from Orion for RFC 1213 ipRouteMask and replies from the seed with multiple varbinds for RFC 1213 if the request are being accepted by the seed router. Can you run this capture and post or PM it?
-
Ah. I see now. See this paper on report writer and the reference to "Hey chart, get in my report". http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/Orion/docs/UnderstandingOrionReportWriter.pdf That chart is built from ping replies to the NPM server.
-
OK - that's a bit clearer. I hacked at it for a while but couldn't get the sql filter. Maybe a community member could help here?
-
Support can help guide you in getting the MIB included and customizing. Please open a ticket.
-
If the device supports the IP-FORWARD-MIB you can use IP-FORWARD-MIB::ipCidrRouteNextHop
-
Well, I'm out of ammo. I'll mark this for someone to assist but it will probably not be until tomorrow. Andy
-
Yes - an advanced alert is triggered by a db query.
-
You don't have to add the MIB to the system. UnDP will poll the OID from the device agent and create a custom poller. The Orion NPM Admin Guide has this well documented. http://www.solarwinds.com/support/Orion/docs/OrionAdministratorGuide.pdf
-
Where did you get the "system" qualifier? Is that a custom property?
-
Maybe I misread the criteria for the report. Can you restate it?
-
To get to that tab click on the Trigger Actions tab, the select Add New Action, then select thae action type and click OK..
-
It sounds like the "Unmanaged Interface" error. Have you made sure that the interface on the exporter is the same device interface used by NPM for managing the device? Also these docs may be heplful. http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/Netflow/docs/NetFlowTroubleshooting.pdf Andy
-
I don't think it is an issue of asynchronous polling as we poll the device with a GETBULK so we get almost everything at the same time. As Admin -> Settings -> Manage Nodes -> Select Nodes in the Show box. Check off the ode of interest and click Edit. Check Allow 64 bit counters box, Submit.
-
Yes - if the WAP controller has a console you might be able to see what the issue is using that console.
-
Looks like that is the issue. If you have multiple servers you need to enable SNMP on we have an SNMP enabler free tool that allows you to do this without having to set each server individually. It is under free tools at http://www.solarwinds.com/downloads/

Hi ctopaloglu, I don't think that is an option today. I'll mark this for a PM to review. Can you provide a use case for this? That helps the PMs understand the feature requests. Thanks - Andy
