  • Create a poller using NetPath, you can use the Orion server, or deploy an agent to a specific node that you'd like to simulate traffic from. Make sure ICMP 11 traffic is allowed through your firewall to the agent, and you should get a pretty good picture of what's going on. Check this out: SolarWinds Network Performance…
  • What's the code for the alert/layout in the wizard? It's probably something in there. I have several disk space warnings and I have never seen mine do this.
  • Weird. I can say that our deployments are nearly identical and I'm only seeing ~320 MB of memory in use right now. Same versions of both products and a similar VMWare setup. Did it start happening right after an upgrade, or kind of out of the blue? Maybe if you re-run the configuration wizard (if you can do so), otherwise…
  • Does this fit the bill? Re: Is it possible to create an alert based on disk space usage change percentage? I used it for a while but shut it off when I no longer needed the data.
  • You could do a quick alert and structure it off of the volume and whether it's responding or not, or you could set it to fire off when it's in an "unreachable", "unknown", "down", etc. state. To test it you could make an alert and point it at an external USB disk or something, then just unplug it and wait, see what status…
  • If anyone is interested I did end up calling support to talk to the licensing department and was told that this is kind of just left over from the pre-NPM 12.0.1 deployment (and a consolidation of two sites' licenses), and that since this is now integrated with NPM 12.0.1 that it won't matter if it expires or not. Not sure…
  • Enable / ask your network folks to enable ICMP11 traffic to the poller (or other device) you have the probe on, see if that helps.
  • Hilariously I'm experiencing the exact opposite recently. I opened a low-level ticket for some assistance and the representative got back to me very quickly on the initial contact, a follow-up, and answering some questions I had. I definitely had problems with support in the past, but my last experience was actually pretty…
  • I actually just finished installing an additional polling engine and I am on NPM 12.0.1 / SAM 6.3. I originally opened a service request with SolarWinds back on 9/29, the representative kept trying to make appointments on Friday afternoons (yeah, right), and had provided me with the correct installer that still would not…
  • Here's an example. This is an application monitor I have set up for some DHCP servers we have: And here's the alert that works off the data from this monitor: When any of those items listed above goes into any state other than "up", it'll start firing off emails. You can see stuff can be excluded if you don't need it, you…
  • Unfortunately that's kind of a "thing" now. I've posted about my problems along with some other members here: Terrible Customer Support Experiences Lately!!!! The thread was started back in 2012 so it seems like this is a battle that's been going on for some time now.
  • Did you test your credentials, or you're otherwise 100% sure they have the necessary admin rights? Aside from that, how long are you waiting? Could take a few minutes for the initial poll of the volumes.
  • I have 3 APEs, none of them are stacked so they each are separate VMs. Each VM has 4x CPU, and 24 GB of memory, and I do not have any problems polling. Current environment stats are: NETWORK ELEMENTS 13452 NODES 1076 INTERFACES 9679 VOLUMES 2697 And about 37% on the VMWare polling.
  • Here we go again, just had to do all this good stuff again today. Got this thread bookmarked at this point for the next time this happens. Shame to hear so many people having problems with the upgrade right now or I'd just do that even though it looks like there's no guarantee that'll fix this, either.
  • Going to bump this back to the top... anyone else have this problem return? I just did now and had to do these exact same steps to resolve it. I really don't want to have to do this every two months, has anyone opened a support case or received any info from SolarWinds regarding this? If it's a "thing" in NPM 12 now that I…
  • Came here looking for this exact answer, thanks to everyone in here.
  • We do this with some alerts to pagers, works OK here just as you outlined in your post with number@carrier, check to make sure your carrier/mail server (we had Exchange previously and now are on Office 365) supports messages relayed in this fashion.
  • I switched to a new domain in a similar fashion and I didn't have any problems.
  • If you need an additional poller, you need an additional license. You'll have to purchase that, it's basically another NPM license.
  • Everything I've read says you can't consolidate the databases from multiple servers. Pick your least favorite one and say goodbye to that data.
  • I was told that they are in fact cumulative.
  • Check this thread out: Receive an alert when a specific Windows service is down There are a few different options in there of how you can structure an alert.
