I'm sure somebody else might have some ideas, but that's about exhausted my thoughts for now. We're running 8.4(2) too. I would suggest raising a support ticket with Solarwinds.
-
Sorry it's not better news. Can you not add the configuration to the router manually?
-
I would take what @">scvvuurenis saying then. I've not been in a situation of license expiry, but sounds like you may be able to continue operation in the short term from what they're saying - providing of course it was previously a fully licensed version and not a trial. Your friend definitely wants to correctly license…

Glad I can be of some help! It's probably worth raising a support case if you think that something isn't right. If you get an alert, it should register and stay there until either the condition no longer exists (i.e. the node comes back online) or you clear the alert manually.
-
You did set a trigger and/or reset action? I have successfully tested this myself and managed to get alerts. I set an email action with message containing: Trigger: Administrative status of ${Interface.InterfaceName} is down Reset: Administrative status of ${Interface.InterfaceName} is up
-
Sounds like everything is correct then. Are you running NTA version 4? If you do a packet capture from your Solarwinds server, are you seeing any data from your ASA?
-
Hmm, I'm not sure what you want to do is possible either that or I don't fully understand what you want to achieve. The logic I would apply to interface alerts is as follows: If I'm monitoring an interface in NPM, I want to know when it's down (and back up) or when it's administratively shutdown (and enabled)
-
Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick here, but NPM/NTA won't configure netflow on the router. You need to add this to the router's configuration manually prior to selecting interfaces for monitoring. You're only selecting the interfaces you want to receive netflow stats for in NTA, you're not affecting any…

Is there a screenshot you can provide showing your licensing issue?

Execute external program via Alert? ... solved my issue. Set the Alerting Engine service to use a domain/service account rather than local system.
-
Hi Carlton, Did you have any success with this? I'm in a similar situation and was just wondering if you had a satisfactory answer from support.
-
OK, so you need to match the Alert Definition (AlertDefID) - which is the string of numbers to the alert name. You might be able to look that up using this part of the database: Open the Database Manager again, NetPerfMon and then open 'AlertDefinitions' and run query: SELECT TOP 1000 * FROM [dbo].[AlertDefinitions] Using…

I can't remember if the feature was available in the web console or still in the application back end. If you click one of the the interfaces in question, is there no 'Edit Interface' option? I would suggest if not, you're going to have to build a new interface-based alert by trial and error or edit an existing. Something…

I'm wondering if there's any benefit in running the installation wizard again just in case there's a problem? Failing that, might be beneficial to raise a support ticket.
-
So under 'Last Received Netflow' column, you have 'never' for all interfaces? Netflow Collector services running? Netflow storage database online (if you're using NTA v4) and services running? Is there anything showing under 'Traffic Analysis Events' on the NTA homepage? Or any other messages relating to templates being…
-
I may have misunderstood your initial question. I was thinking you were using event log template which was in turn returning this information. I'm afraid I have no experience of the Exchange Appinsight template.
-
I've only ever unmanaged nodes a handful at a time. 700 may take some time to execute, but please let us know how you get on.
-
An alternative method (although perhaps not as thorough as the above) for looking at historical alerts is to go through the 'Message Center' (http://server_name/Orion/NetPerfMon/OrionMessages.aspx) If you want, filter by device Select the required time period to report on Tick 'Show triggered alerts' and deselect the rest…
-
How about: Trigger Alert when all of the following apply: Interface Status is equal to Down Node name contains GBBL Trigger Alert when none of the following apply: Interface Name contains phone
-
Bear in mind this isn't the official line to support, so you might want to raise a support ticket. I'd anticipate that if your product isn't licensed, don't expect it to work correctly!
-
Is it possible that somebody has cleared or acknowledged the latest alert? The only way I can think of retrieving the data is to look at the SQL table 'AlertLog'. Do this: From your Solarwinds server, open 'Database Manager'. Click 'Add default server' and then browse to the correct database (e.g. NetPerfMon). Expand this…

It's possible to edit specific interfaces, so if this is likely to be a permanent issue you could change the alerting thresholds and potentially bandwidth settings for a particular interface (overriding the global settings) Alternatively, you would need to change your alerting logic to work around these interfaces. It…

Could be a good excuse to put in a request for new kit!

Of course... this is what we have for those:
-
I meant to include details about my alert for your reference: On the Trigger Condition tab: Trigger Alert when all of the following apply Last Boot has changed Vendor is equal to Cisco On the Trigger Actions tab: Execute the following Actions when the Alert is Triggered: Execute an NCM action Command Script to Execute:…
-
How about: Trigger Alert when all of the following apply: Interface Status is equal to Down Trigger Alert when none of the following apply: Administrative Status is equal to Shutdown Therefore, if an interface is down, only notify if the interface is administratively up.
-
I don't quite follow, sorry. Could you send over a couple of screenshots to illustrate what you're doing?
-
If the OS is the same as the other devices, I suppose you could rule that out. Do you have another utility you could poll the device through to see if you get the same results? If not, perhaps take a trial of something or use the free 'The Dude' MikroTik Routers and Wireless: The Dude
-
erdzzy - could you post some screenshots of the issue, for clarity.
-
When you say '2 of my other machines', do you have multiple polling engines set up or just the one?
