So applied the hotfix and increased the ports and the system now is half broke. It kind of sends out alarms, the config manager does not work, and the atlas is in pieces. So is there a fix? this is WEEK TWO of our alerting system being unstable. The higher ups are asking questions now. I guess trying to stay up to date…

Yup. I updated things last Thursday and Solarwinds has not been working correctly since. I am being told its port exhaustion but all of my SAM monitoring just when to unknown so I think something else is causing issues. Everything was running JUST FINE before I applied any updates.

Sounds like you are going to jump into Solarwinds and inherit quite an installation. While learning about all the products and how they work you might want to focus on pain points and how to jump in and fix. Do they have chatty alerts? Are they using custom alerts? Do people ignore alerts? I inherited a smaller Solarwinds…

This works by going over the materials you have on the SCP site then taking the test? Just want to make sure I am not missing anything for the training. Thanks!

And to add to this can DPA do multiple AD Domains (or forests) as well?

Figured it out once I hit send. It needs to be GREATER THAN for it to send out the alert.... lol

Someone here may have found our issue. Cisco Bug: CSCvn57671 - LDAP sync locks out LDAP accounts

I was trying to add a widget to a few different pages on Orion and it could not connect to the server and got a server error message.... so looks like things are still not running 100% Here is the error. { "data": { "Message": "There was an error processing the request.", "StackTrace": "", "ExceptionType": "" }, "status":…

Still running fine on Day 6 so I think this issue maybe finally resolved kasaff and aLTeReGo

Does Solarwinds have any place that we can see a preview of what Cisco ACI Support means?
-
My question - how will this hose my Solarwinds installation?
-
Found it!!!

I guess my biggest beef with this is I have been using Solarwinds for the past 2 years with my company and reached out to support and my sales person and asked if there was any kind of certification or training and the response I always got was NO. If I would have known about this I would have done the test/training when I…

You can use SAM to create a custom event monitor to check event logs and monitor for specific events. Link for the information - Windows Event Log monitor Screen Shot of what I have setup - Or SAM does have some built in SSL Monitoring Templates you can use. I have these running against my Exchange Servers to let me know…

Found out it could have been a multitude of things. The one item we found was the sys log service on the Orion server had 25 million rows in it so we truncated the log and started over and set the settings to not write these events to the log - we were set to do this will all events. There also was some issues with SAM IIS…

Have gone over this at all? You setup a custom property field and assign emails to each node. I am working on setting this up myself to cut down on the amount of alerts I have to manage. Success Center

And as some follow up to this. I went to one of my nodes and stopped the agent and restarted it and let it sit for 10 mins and that made no difference. I finally restarted all of the Solarwinds services and that fixed the issue. I applied HF 4 per support to see if this would fix the issue and it looks like it did not.

To expand a bit more on rflanagan32871's post do you have network discovery configured to automatically add nodes to Solarwinds? The regular polling does not pick up changes but if you have a network discovery running on a regular basis it will pick up the changes.

You will have to create a local admin account on the server and add it to Solarwinds for Monitoring. I have quite a few web servers and other types of servers that are not domain joined that have separate accounts or I have created an account that is used to add to servers to Solarwinds that are off domain. Does that help…

So I was able to get this fixed and my SAM maintenance error is gone away. How did I do it? I had one of my DBAs go through SQL and found some consistency checks were failing for quite some time in the solarwinds database. So we took it offline, ran some consistency checks and reindexed the database and BLAMMO! SAM…
