its always best practice to have backups of your server. If you are using VMWare/Azure/AWS, snapshot the system first before attempting upgrades so it is easier to roll back if something goes wrong. SW also has KB articles https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/success_center/kss/content/kss_upgrade_guide.htm and…

Could always use trusty old snipping tool?

You could always ask Palo Alto for the MiBs of the firewall and submit it to Solarwinds support so they can add it to the Orion MiB database, then update the database. Not saying this will solve your problem but its worth a try.

I know you can use ctrl + alt + end when you are using RDP. Give this a try and let me know if it works

I'm assuming this functionality has stopped working for existing servers where ping used to work? Without stating the obvious, you have checked that ICMP has been allowed on the Firewall as well as Windows firewall on the destination server?

HCO does allow you to spin up APE's as needed. I've been working on this recently and haven't had any issues with licensing.
-
Update: We found the cause of this, our firewall rule was blocking ICMP but allowing WMI for our APE. This leaves me with the question. Does JMX monitoring rely on a successful ping before it queries WMI? I commend Solarwinds support for being patient and helping us with optimizing our environment.

I was recently advised by support that MPE supports up to 10000 components and APE's support up to 40000 components.

They have another product that is more suited for RMM stuff, if that's what you aim for. N-Able N-central(previously known as Solarwinds N-Central before they got hacked), however this is agent based and the agent tends to break every now and then, which can be a pain to fix if a simple uninstall and reinstall doesn't…
