Check to see if this article applies: Unable to add Operations to VNQM to Cisco devices on version 15.3 and above Also - check to see if the operations numbers that you are using are already in use for another operation. I would check the job logs for IPSLA operations - I do not recall the location for those logs…

This used to be a quirky feature. NPM would change the node caption if the hostname or dns name would change. If you set the caption to something specific, it typically would not change it. I have not seen dns changes do this in recent versions. The hostname - not sure, but I do not think so. Again this would somehow be…

You can create a dataflow based on custom swql/api data pulls instead of connecting the actual sql database or even a copy of it (sync'd daily...). This allows you to tailor and simplify the data that PBI is receiving. In other words, if users want data on hardware asset details or alerts, etc. You can create swql to grab…

Without diving into this - I think you are looking at SAM, probably an API scripted component or the SAM API Component.

Check the orion logs, I think it might be the orion module business layer and maybe core business layer on the failover MPE. There are several and I am not looking at a server right now. Look for anything that is large - like 10 mb or more. As solarwinds keeps the last five or so around, you can filter by name and date, in…

@"mesverrum" Has a great post here: (+) Connecting to the SWIS API with Grafana - DevOps Forum - DevOps Discourse - THWACK . This may not be your exact situation but may be helpful.

The short answer is the alert will not trigger if it is not enabled. The yellow box just means that IF the alert was enabled, it would trigger for the following XX nodes. It only happens when nodes (or anything defined in the scope) meet the alert trigger conditions - it is more of warning to you that the alert would fire.…

Alternatively, you can create a filtered view and assign it to that team (provided you have windows groups setup and the users are divided correctly.) I have used team views in the past to great effect, and it provided the ability for multiple teams to still see all the 'stuff' during troubleshooting. Also assigning…

Sounds like issue with the complex condition evaluation and the alerting service. I think you are ready to submit that ticket.
-
I wonder if this has to do with some of the stranger conditions that groups can show - best or worst status. Pity that you cannot leverage a dependency. Otherwise, it is custom properties to make it worse to make it work. You can use group custom properties as part of the scope for the group alert. While I have done this…

I answered my own question and I am reality challenged. The server type in the login prompt was not set to Orion (v3) AD. I need coffee. FYI - if you get no results from some entities but not others in swqlstudio only - check the prompt type in the connection box. Thanks all!

I have noticed that Aliases do not work in the where clauses either. Looks like it has to do with the SQL order of operations that SWQL lives under. The Where statements are processed before the Select statements (and aliases). This most likely applies to group by and having as they are executed prior to Select statements…

Not as such. While you could abuse custom properties assist in this, you really want something that does inventory. The closest product from SolarWinds that I am aware of is the SolarWinds Service Desk. The IT asset management portion of it. IT Asset Lifecycle Management. What is it? | SolarWinds This is focused on IT…

This sounds like something on the MS side potentially. Are you to see the metrics via wbemtest? Using the same account/security that is polling the server? While I don't suspect an update to wmi has happened, it is not out of the realm of possibility.
-
@"bourlis" This is spot on. EOC with multiple pollers and correct licensing would be exactly what I would think also. The SWOSH licensing does permit multiple instances under a single license, but EOC would still be the glue. The other alternative would be an alert aggregator that would ingest the alerts and potentially…

I trust you mean the windows user accounts that you use to collect wmi information from servers? They have documentation on this, but the only I found is on the secondary support url: Credentials are securely encrypted in SolarWinds Platform products…

First, I assume you have SAM or SWOSH/hco licensing. The legacy SAM module is what you want. I would start by looking into the SolarWinds Academy. There are both instructor led and video instruction. I would recommend the Office Hours too. The instructors have open hours that you can join and directly asked questions. Some…

Yeah - i have run into that. There was a short conversation about who left the services enabled. Happy Hunting! (This turned out to be a good thing as everyone forgot to disable those services.) If no one admits - you can always play the cyber security/risk card and offer to call them to sort it out. That may get a…

Another solution is custom properties. I have used some name like - 'MWF1200-1800' with a yes/no value., The default value was No. Then I create an alert with the specific active times to exclude that time frame and the scope would include that custom value to equal Yes. In other words, the alert is only active and outside…

Hello @"ImNishat" - You might want to take a look at the requirements for Netflow 5 version - this is one of the two formats supported by NTA. NetFlow version 9 is also supported but it must include the fixed fields of version 5. The NTA pages link to several Cisco docs. I found a downloadable guide on Cisco that includes…

Hmm sounds like an alert on group mixed status might be where you are heading. If you want suppression, the simplest option is to look for a node that always triggers during these conditions. Then set that up as Parent for the group dependency. I have a feeling that this situation might not exist as it may be random nodes…

Ditto. I just caught up on this post and agree with @"jokerfest" .

Do you have a ticket opened for this issue? THere are a lot of people using v3. Please share what you have learned.
-
You have several things going on. Group that have mixed status, Unreliable/High Latency WAN connections, and Alerting Chaos. You have not mentioned using dependencies with the groups. That will suppress all group members from alerting. This stops a flood, but if they are technically up - not the best. BUT - if the…

I looked at the answers to your earlier post - I agree with their sentiments. I will try to add some clarification though. The solarwinds orion API will use basic authentication only. Please upvote this feature request for enhanced authentication when using the solarwinds orion api : SolarWinds API should support OAUTH2…

Have you run a snmpwalk to those servers from a polling engine and from another non-SolarWinds system (that can access the SNMP on the Solaris servers). Are you able to ping those servers from a polling engine? (assuming that Ping is permitted.) These will help determine if it is SolarWinds or windows related. Also try…

Looks like that you cannot connect to the sql server anymore. Was the SQL server installed on the same server as the SolarWinds Server? Make sure you can reach port 1433 on the sql server if it is separate server. I have a bad feeling about the uninstall and reinstall situation that you are facing. If the sql server is…

The simplest check is to make sure that they are monitored as VNodes - in other words that VMAN/VIM knows it should be getting data via vcenter. You want them set to Poll via Vcenter. Learn More about VMAN polling and pollers this has the section on changing polling.

SWOSaas is actually cost and feature comparative with Pingdom now - ask for competitive pricing to migrate. I would recommend SWOSaas over pingdom. I love pingdom, but swo saas is finally reached a level of goodness. One of the major pain points in pingdom is user access. You pay per user in pingdom - not a problem with…

SWO SaaS also has that same capability of Pingdom. You can check websites from multiple locations.
