This was my first Thwack Camp attendance in person and from start to finish, it was a blast. Everyone (said in the Leon Gary Oldman character stylee!) at SolarWinds was amazing and made sure us MVP's were made to feel welcome, looked after and involved. The event itself was so strong, with great ideas, industry insights…

From the first time I met you, taking on the role of SolarWinds Head Geek is not a surprise. Congratulations and am looking forward to seeing your geekness in action!

A thumbs up from me In the middle next to the Last 10 minutes have a mini drop down selector. Auto tuning would be lovely, but mapping device based update cycles may be a painful task.

Looking forward to seeing this functionality in Orion (SAM)

Good bye and good luck! Thank you for making sure Thwack is as epic as it is.

Could you not send all your syslog to Kiwi and then have a rule to forward (maintaining source IP) the syslog messages you do wish to have in LM4O? This allows you to do the filtering or noise within Kiwi, which will help the processing capacity of LM4O.

@"ecklerwr1" it would be interesting to know what your normal baseline is for concurrent VPN's and how this has affected other metrics.

While it has not been a difficult task to utilise the NCM Execute Script or Config Change Templates capabilities to perform Firmware upgrades for a long time, it is rare that I come across customers actually using NCM (or indeed any other CM tools) to perform this task. I am interested to see if this changes with this new…

Whilst I am biased, as I get to talk about SolarWinds every day of my working life, and as a proud THWACK MVP, I highlight how I feel that the THWACK community has been a foundation to the overall SolarWinds success story. By bringing SolarWinds users, aspiring SolarWinds users and the wider technical community together,…

Interesting post and useful to get such insight. The perception in recent times, certainly that portrayed in the press has been pretty negative towards HPE and in particular Meg Whitman. The significant changes in the landscape recently have mean't for companies like HPE bold is the only option if they want to maintain…

It was discussed at a recent SolarWinds event that as the Routing data collected from devices can be very large and that SNMP is just not able to collect this amount of data efficiently, it is an absolute requirement to collect this via a CLI command. Changing to this method and extending to allow additional custom data to…

If the questions are going to change from being Ctrl-F based (and by lord they should), it is essential that there can be no ambiguity. Unfortunately, two questions this week, especially today's fall into that category. Make people think and have to actually read the hint resources, but it needs to be done in a way where…

Capturing routing tables via SNMP in known to be very inefficient; devices will not return the data in timely fashion, it will time out with all this causing the issues you are experiencing. Changing the max entry collection value, while it allows for greater data volume to be collected, it does not change the underlying…

When the pandemic first reared its very ugly head, and I will not denigrate the covidiots who panic bought, shortages started to appear on various household items. When I heard that toilet paper was one of the things that was in short supply, I thought to myself, would this have been an expected item to panic buy. No and I…

Let me know how you get on, as my wife would mainline it if she could!

Some 5G masts have been burnt down over here, hence the term Covidiots

@"kpina" - I am sure I didnt get a mispelling for answer 10, but I have a nasty red cross.

Whenever we talk to customers about using Execute Script or Execute Program actions in Orion we strongly highlight the need to validate it is the right approach and triple check everything. If things change as you have described that is for the user to ensure correct processes in place to deal with security, but there are…

Hi, Has there been any progress on the restructuring of the Alerting functionality within SM? This is something that is often painful to get into place, as the alerts that are sent out via email is based on a severity level and not the actual condition itself, so it is not possible for specific users to receive specific…

Great work everyone! - Anyone that has Nexus in their environment will be driven to upgrade to this release.

My first thought when reading this was the increased quality time spent with family. With my children off school and needing to support them in keeping occupied and maintain the engagement in learning, meant I myself was spending more time with them in these activities. Where help previously was more sporadic, where…

In full agreement!

Agree, SRM in particular is the module that baselining and right sizing the thresholds to the capabilities of the storage is 'a process'.

Hi Peter, Can you clarify the following scenarios for licencing please: Role Based Orion Account A single internal orion account is created and used by multiple users e.g. NetworkTeam Windows Auth - Group Users How is this assigned and can I have 5 users in a group and assign an ETS Web license to 2 of these thanks

Copy/Move to, such satisfaction and why when others are looking at Facebook, my time is spent on the life hacks videos

It can be a little daunting to know where to start when getting your Orion Platform monitoring up and running. This is why the Orion Platform comes with a strong foundation of alerts to get you going. The online demo is running all the Orion Platform products at their latest versions and therefore shows many, many…

Bumped along with general improvement to monitoring SAP

I stopped short of stating this level of support, but that would be very welcome. Anyone working against an API is going to be using and familiar with Postman.

What we really want here is two distinct functions: 1. Mobile view into Orion - this is already there and while I agree it takes some tweaking to get the most out of it, is pretty good 2. Event and alert notifications via Push mechanism For number 2, yes it is not too difficult to integrate Orion into 3rd party platforms,…
