I dont need to add to the monitoring inclusion, as this is accepted as a fundamental. What I would say is there is a distinction between using your monitoring tools for firefighting and being pro-active. We see a lot of our customers using Orion in very much the firefighting role, with a limited pro-active utilisation. For…

What you are looking for here seems to be more in line with the NCM Compliance Policy Reporting feature. Where that is looking at the configuration of a network device to highlight where compliance is missing. Note that there are a large number of DISA STIG policy reports out the box for that tool. Where the various…

It would probably be difficult as SW are unlikely to do this against a single vendor such as Splunk, as that would restrict too many customers who do not have Splunk. I do very much like the idea though and having a method to allow any Log management platform that can perform an integration action e.g. call a REST service,…

Loving this different stylee!

Great post Ben. The more content created demonstrating the use and benefits of SWQL the better for me. Glad you bit the bullet and got your head in to how being able to use SWQL to improve your platform. It is an essential requirement if you really want to take an Orion installation to a truly beneficial level, as you can…

Hi It is not possible to set this within the rule definition, however you can set it in the Event list. The issue with this is you need to generate a matching alert to then change its severity value. Take this as an example: 1. Rule says look for X 2. When event that matches X is generated it will appear in the Event list…

I finally got round to finishing the script, as I wanted it to support multiple ports in single scripts, as this is most likely to be the requirement, rather than having a single monitor for a single port. Script is in the content exchange TCP Port Closed Powershell Check.apm-template

I would be interested to see what people are doing to break the monotony those being under lock down have applied to their lives.

Can we get the old KB article links mapped through to the new Success Centre URLs please, as any saved links or Google searches are going to dead links now. Loving the Success Centre btw, but some feedback: 1. The Category structure seems to have been lost and while the tag function is a similar feature, the large quantity…

Congratulations to my fellow MVP's and looking forward to another year of sharing, chatting, and hopefully helping as much as is possible

This will be part of the core application I would expect (correct me if I am wrong cobrien) and therefore SAML login will be available within all Orion applications including SAM.

Interesting and topical subjects. Crypto currency situation is an odd one, as the ethos behind the originators has been ironically swallowed up by capitalism, as they have been turned into a trading commodity and people (and I am guilty here myself) are seeing the investment opportunities. If the motives were kept pure and…

A change is as good as a rest, as they say! (sorry Thwack team, that is probably the wrong thing to say after all your hard work!, for which we are all thankful!) For anyone having issues with "Request Entity Too Large" errors, clear your Thwack cookies and the site should work for you again (thanks @"jm_sysadmin" ) Now to…

Artistic licence on my part for the sake of the piece or reality - I wont ask you for specifics

I have not had a chance to play with Web Help Desk so far and therefore the points below are focused on the Orion side of the fence. As SolarWinds partners, here are some quick thoughts on issues we see through our customers: * Alert action GUI to export alert event messages to Web Help Desk in consistent and structured…

It would be nice for the many SW customers outside of north America to be allowed to participate in these..

Completing the survey will get you the Thwack points, but a wrong answer will remove you from the prize draw/s ( assuming you did get them all right) I am sure wabbott will get this sorted

So much to celebrate their! Congratulations to each individual and the collective Solarians for their achievements and recognitions!

Linux Agent support didn't make it to the final release of SAM 6.2.4, but expect it to be in the next release and for precisely this reason, I would hope the Linux agent will support NetPath functionality.

I think you will find sir, you have an error in your title NEW THWACK SECTION: FEATURE ( ) HUNT!

I answered question 3 correctly, but it marked it as wrong :/ (Red in SolarWinds Land means bad things and it is in the monthly missions for me! )

5 years is a long time in IT and I foresee a continuation of the change to consolidation of management tooling. Whether this is wrapped up in portals such as O365 or Meraki etc. or as part of a toolset solution where multi faceted technologies are managed via specific created tooling, this may turn sysadmins into point and…

Not all groups are configured to reference Custom properties and currently filtering which groups are displayed on a All Groups resource. Even if they were using custom properties, it would still be preferred to keep the filter logic within the Group resource.

I totally agree, something needs to change to allow for this situation. Let's be fair, this is something that is happening in networks every day. My approach is one of two and I would be interested to hear others thoughts. My preference is that you can select a device an put it into a state where it is 'retired', so that…

This has been a long running feature request with a couple of other feature requests logged in Thwack.

@"tinmann0715" - well done to you for taking on and maintaining such a change. I used the exercise (sorry Kevin) activity as an example, as lockdown rules at least in the UK allowed for an amount of exercise to be performed outside each day and I know many people used that to get themselves out of the house not just for…

I agree, with option to provide a balance that can be struck on how many of the options are included in the top level widget vs those provided in the advanced click through

It certainly looks like you have adapted to the home working model well and have sown the benefits of such into you new lifestyle. It is hard when you realise the 'off to work' solution was having such a big impact on your life, commuting is a lifestyle for many people, but one which comes at a cost. Great write up - thanks

I cannot believe this is not a landslide!
