The previous advice from Vinay and Mesverrum is correct. You have two choices 1. Follow the multi step upgrade path, which will allow you to end up with an installation the same as your current production installation - configuraiton settings and historic polling data. This will require you to provision a temporary server,…

I am reading between lines and feel this may be a migration to new application servers and or SQL Server, which if this is the case you need to review the following KB's which are very detailed on the process: Migrate to new Hostname…

It was around 3 days and it was very focused to removing trojan code and adding security function. When you have hundreds of developers working on a product the coding took probably the least amount of time in those 3 days.

Hi Any updates on the status of the ServiceNow integration application and when it will return to the ServiceNow store?
-
The app is back in the App Store - https://store.servicenow.com/sn_appstore_store.do#!/store/application/28d51d460f129a006d9cb17ce1050e6c

Great piece of work and well written up, double kudos for sharing.

@"robth" Firstly, I have never come across a web filters solution that cannot support hostnames for whitelist and this is a perfect example of why that should be the case. DNS poisoning issues can be dealt with by the security device having its own DNS server settings and protections. However, if this is the case then you…

The advisory page is the oracle of what is the state of play and that still says today - https://www.solarwinds.com/securityadvisory Obviously they need to make sure that the fix released does everything it needs to in removing the trojan, increasing security and maintaining platform function, so one of those things to get…

This would go against the information currently out there, so my feeling is the Anti-Malware is using a signature match incorrectly, as this Orion version is 2 full version behind the first published version affected.
-
There is logic in the installation process that checks the version of Orion for the SQL database and will then look to perform the necessary Schema updates. Therefore, you 'should' be able to install the latest version of Orion against this older version schema of your current SQL Server database. I would suggest that you…

Thanks @"christopher.t.jones123" and @"monitoringlife" - I have made the updates

Sorry, can you confirm if you RDP'ing to the Orion primary server and using a browser on that machine to view the report page in question? The reason for this, is that this essentially mimics how the Schedule report function works and I wanted to see if that works or not. If this fails as well, Wireshark the traffic on the…

@"jklundy" if you are uploading directly from the Orion server, then yes you will need to add the file upload URL's to your whitelist. Note that with the ability to generate diags via the Orion web UI now, downloading them to your local PC then uploading may be used. Yes, the 'Core' URL's above should allow your Orion to…

This will I am sure be investigated, and the timing is really not good, as 2 + 2 can be made into any number at this point. From what I have seen from this, it has been in motion for some time that the CEO and some other members of the board were moving on and that the investment funds that own most of SW sold their stock…

Hi Dan, This wouldn't be too difficult at all. It will simply require an SQL query to be created to perform the exporting of the Syslog table to CSV and then truncating the table and shrinking the database to free up the space. Creating and assigning the above within a Maintenance plan on schedule basis will do what you…

Karl is using v11.5 and SDK 1.10

Can I add my vote for this feature. Such a feature would also extend functionality in other areas, such as tying into other IP based data sources, DHCP servers etc.
-
Has this ever made it into Orion and I just haven't seen it? We have this requirement where in a Checkpoint UnDP we have the name of a VS, but that only exists in one table and the other tables have another OID which has the ID of the VS to allow each table to tie together.

Good to hear all working now. I would advise that you configure an alert which references the last polled time being greater than 15 minutes or so, as this will let you know that polling is not working.
-
If you are not already running v9+, it is now possible to delete nodes in bulk via the 'Manage Nodes' page within the website interface. Saves any manual SQL, script or orphanded data issues

Hi, I would really appreciate a response to this, as I would like to get this custom property method working.
-
Hi Rob, I have tried to create the custom properties as described Latitude(World Map) including the parentheses, but these get converted to underscores when added to Orion Latitude_World Map_ If you can let me know if I should be doing something specific to get this working. thanks Mark

I am not 100% sure what you are stating. Does changing the ANY to an ALL work in terms of the Business Hours data? I am thinking you have a Time Frame filter in place, together with a Summarization, which will group the ouput into the selected time values. You may need to untick the 'Group by historical data by days'…

Hi We have noticed several custom SQL/SWQL usage issues with the recent releases of Orion breaking what was previously working and what 'should' still work. I haven't tested the above (sorry just dont have time this week), but I can confirm that SELECT statements within the WHERE clause work fine. One suggestion would be…

In the Polling Settings section you can set the global values, but I recommend as you have already found to adjust on the node level.

The NTA report is collating bandwidth consumption across a couple of defined interfaces, with a links to the IP address groups to allow per customer reporting to be performed. Increasing the SWQL Studio timeout allowed the report data to be returned, but it is still timing out when running via the Report area of the web…
-
Problem with cloning the database is having a brand new server and upgrading multiple times, which will always leave orphaned files/registry settings etc., cleaning of a database where customers ask us for fresh installations with no historic data to be migrated (yes this is sometimes the insistent requirement). This was a…

As The *ahem* Toilet has said your Hours filter is incorrect as an OR. You need to change this to an AND statement, so change the value on the group to ALL

With SCP now being product specific, the only thing that is likely to change is the questions in the exam. If you have already passed the SCP in a product/s then it will either be valid for 3 years or if you maintain a subscription will continue to be valid all the while you follow the training. The training material will…
