Good! Glad its sorted it out for you, took me a while to figure this out too but it works very well. I do believe this is currently the only way SolarWinds can pickup the hardware information on IBM/Lenovo Systems. Regards, L.

Hi, In my environment we do the same thing, i tend to reboot my SolarWinds server for patching etc during the day as we have a team of operators that work with and monitor Control-M from 7am-10pm. A reboot of SW if its virtual like mine doesn't take any longer than a couple of minutes or so. When SolarWinds is rebooting…

Ahh, well thats good, makes life easier to compare our results if we are using the same vuln scanner. Seems like you also know what your doing over there as far as SSL/TLS and weak ciphers go. My versions are as follows; Orion Platform 2017.3.3 SP3, WPM 2.2.1, DPAIM 11.1.0, VMAN 8.1.0, QoE 2.4, CloudMonitoring 1.1.0, SAM…

Asking me to login? I tried both my customer portal and my thwack user neither work.

Do you do any DB capacity planning? SolarWinds can obviously do disk, memory and CPU forecasting but not SQL? Another simple task that SW is failing me on..
-
SolarWinds should poll the vCenter for ESXI hardware, you can add manufacturer files to the ESXI install to allow direct HW monitoring but vCenter handles everything in that sense and SolarWinds pulls it from vCenter Regards, L.

farhood Hi! Thats good news, it depends i guess on what your certificates are for, if your using an exchange server for example, you can monitor the SSL ports for IMAP, SMTP and HTTPS (443) with the SSL Certificate monitor. Personally i would use 3 separate SSL monitors but configure them on the same box just different…

Any ideas if this in the plans to develop? Yet again another simple effective feature (Like SNMP Trap advanced alerting) which is missing from Orion.

Hi, Im not quite sure my query came across properly. I can already do Appinsight for SQL monitoring i am doing this on my LAN already via WMI. But because my DMZ is locked down by many firewalls to limit the port range im using the agent. I have SQL database clusters with the agent installed on them but when listing…

Mustafa, As you mentioned you are running SAM in Domain A and you want to add a node that sits in Domain B. Are you using a local admin account on the node in Domain B? Or are you using an admin account to add the node in? (Domain A or B Account) I would definitely make sure you have port 445 and 135 open as a minimum to…

Im also using Control-M here where i work, we are using Control-M 9 and the latest version of SolarWinds SAM. One of the core functionalities that the SolarWinds system is missing is being able to alert based on incoming SNMP traps using the alert manager and i have raised this with them plenty of times. You'll also see…

This useful to know so you can manually change these options if you want to. But, i dont get this vulnerability highlighted on my SAM server and i use Tenables Security Center / Nessus so i can only assume SolarWinds fixed it in there latest HF's or releases.

Hello, Do you not have a firewall or perimeter WAF/IPS between your cloud and your network? or are you directly plugged into your cloud? Personally id advise against exposing your SW ports to the internet, you would usually have firewall rules that allow your cloud IP's into your main SolarWinds Server via the relevant…

Are you running your SQL on virtual or physical platform? Im interested because im having some issues with Page Read/Writes and some DB Performance anomalies. Wondering if anybody can see if the below looks strange or is normal? My Page life expectancy is complete different to yours. Or does it all look ok ? I have a webex…

Ive been following this: Might be worth giving it a vote for some more visibility. I too would like some sort of SNMP Trap or Syslog handling within Orion.
-
Hello, mesverrum is correct, you need a NOC view. In the NOC view you can setup the modules you require and then set a rotating page display.
-
Bump! Still have this issue, anybody else?
-
Ive been following this for a while Give it a vote if you havent already, your not the only one screaming out for this!

aLTeReGo Can you cast your expert knowledge of SAM onto my issue/query?

Maybe, id say it would have to be a customer powershell script monitor though. i dont think there is anything out of the box to tell you if a server is running SSL3.0 TLS1.0/1.1/1.2 - i assume thats what you were talking about? Theres something called IISCrypto located here: Nartac Software - IIS Crypto This software helps…

Hello, i used to have this problem, we dont have IBM Director anymore and i was struggling with HW monitoring but theres a way round it. You dont actually need IBM Directory for this, but you can install the agent, which then gives SolarWinds the WMI providers for the IBM hardware. HP do a similar thing but no so much in…

I am currently running SAM 6.4 on VM along with WPM. I haven't setup my WPM transactions yet but i will probably offload these to another box with an agent on thats less busy. I also have SQL installed on the same VM (32GB Ram, 6 Cores, Drives are on our top tier storage on the SAN, SSDs, SAS etc.) and im having some…

Hello farhood if its the default SSL cert monitor thats built into SAM your talking about then by default it will monitor a certificate thats presented on port 443 (HTTPS) such as https://website.mydomain.co.uk for example. The description for the monitor is: This component monitor tests a web server's ability to accept…

SolarWinds pulls the hardware information for your host/s from vCenter itself, you can also poll directly through ESXI specifying root credentials. As jason1320 said, you need to install the HP Insight WBEM Providers if its windows, same goes with IBM you need the director platform WBEM agent (equivalent to the HP one) so…

Hello, Your SQL Server can show critical status in SolarWinds if one of the metrics breaches the default threshold. For example, i have a SQL Server Instance monitored by SolarWinds but is showing critical because the Lock Requests/sec is showing Red. This would then send the top level of the monitor to red. I believe you…
-
Also to note, if Domain A & Domain B are separated by firewalls then you have another issue.... As your not using an agent in this instance then i assume you will be using WMI in which has a dynamic port range of thousands. This means you would need to open up a lot of ports on your firewall to monitor anything windows via…
-
Hello, Im not quite sure i understand what your asking. Why would Control-M be monitoring your SolarWinds Server? Or, are you saying that you send your Control-M traps to SolarWinds which then alerts? We would need to know your environment setup for SolarWinds to get an understanding of what you have and what i can advise…

Bump! I would like this too! Our DBA's are wanting to run a report which details capacity planning for our SQL databases as currently they use various methods which is very time consuming. It would be good if i could get this from SolarWinds which reports on DB growth and DB anticipated growth based on the trend during…

Hi! Is the hardware monitoring properly setup for your server? When you 'List Resources' on the node you are trying to get hardware information from do you see the option to enable Hardware monitoring? Regards L.

Hello, Dont install on the same box!!! I have SAM & WPM running on a virtual machine and on the initial stages of implementing SolarWinds into our infrastructure i ignored the recommendations and went with SQL and App all on 1 server. Trust me, you'll spend more time on plans to move SQL to another server than actually…
