what i've found out, the hard way, is that ORION is not a portal... it is mostly a static web site and many users can't accept that. i have to tippy-toe around by creating seperate Menu Bars and assigning Views with many Filters to keep so-and-so from seeing the others network objects or else to see only their network…

I only starting having this problem the past two days, long after my NPM 9.5 update and the SP1. I've been restarting everything in Orion System Manager to clear it up. I also opened a case on this earlier today and sent in a diagnostic file.

At first I only used INCLUDE EVENTS with KEYWORDS, but later on I found some other security events to cull out, so I made some using the EXCLUDE EVENTS with KEYWORDS. (My definition of exceptions.) This is what really made the difference in my case.

it apparently does have SNMP TRAP service running then. the next thing i would suggest is to do a sniff on the traffic and see if some system other than Solarwinds is attempting to do SNMP GETs to this IP address - this would generate Authentication Failures if it is trying to use an SNMP Community String not authenticated…

i've just discovered about 50 SonicWall firewalls and the WAN & LAN interfaces work like a charm for monitoring. i'm getting some great stats on them too. we're not using SNMP v3.
