that's great ... thanks.

here's the ADV ALERT made for the Custom Poller (NODE) and NOTE: This NODE has an ongoing SNMP TRAP (see earlier entry) which comes in about once every 5 minutes. And I've tried watching its Status value change using SNMP MIB Browser by refreshing the table, but never see it change from 3. But yet the TRAP always has the…

I don't think so - but I believe that is now a FEATURE REQUEST for Orion.

Great info - thanks Mark
-
Thanks Andrew & Brandon - I got it configured and found some new stuff without any disruptions. I was worrying for nothing... ;)
-
I've made the DLL changes - so now its a waiting game ... (In my case this issue doesn't have any pattern, such as twice a day or daily, it fails intermittently – but if it doesn’t fail at least within three days then I think I’ll be fixed.)

I meant I couldn't use "SAVE AS" on the .zip file to even get it. When I did, it ended up being an XML file and not a ZIP file.

i didn't have to do much since the Orion MIB database had most of what i needed for the IBM BLADE chassis/components monitoring. our SAN is EMC CLARiiON and SNMP is minimal with their MIBs. at least it does do SNMP TRAPS for drive failures. we do not have any Nortel. if the Orion MIB database didn't (or doesn't) get what…

Support Case is opened. thanks.

Andy, This variable was displaying OK beforehand - it was not until the Threshold triggered with 91% Used Space that it attempted to change the font to become RED that this became an issue. Thanks.

what i've found out, the hard way, is that ORION is not a portal... it is mostly a static web site and many users can't accept that. i have to tippy-toe around by creating seperate Menu Bars and assigning Views with many Filters to keep so-and-so from seeing the others network objects or else to see only their network…

We did hear back from our ISP and of course they said there can be short bursts over 30Mbps before packets start dropping. Hmmmm?
-
do you see any problem with what i'm using here? i only get one entry in the MAP VALUES. (this is a new discovery for me and i appreciate your pointing it out...it should help me out a lot if i can only get passed this single entry.)
-
That makes sense. I'm so spoiled using Dell MIBs with our Dell hardware, I expect the same from IBM, but it won't happen. Thanks for the help.

here are the steps to making this. i created a share named SW$ on a server. i used Create New Template on APM and selected to use WMI MONITOR. in the field for WQL QUERY i used Select STATUS From Win32_Share WHERE Name = 'SW$' i assigned this to that server. it went GREEN in APM and all is well. i created an alert to…

Roger, What exactly is Component Type 9? Is this when using SNMP? What if I'm using 'Windows Service Monitor' instead? And when using this with default Type 9, it appears to restart other services that were stopped (monitored by APM). I just triggered a test on this and your recommendation worked, but it also caused a…

Hey Marie! Here's the case Case #242684 - "Can't restart a service" and I've also referenced this thread. THANKS!
-
I only starting having this problem the past two days, long after my NPM 9.5 update and the SP1. I've been restarting everything in Orion System Manager to clear it up. I also opened a case on this earlier today and sent in a diagnostic file.

At first I only used INCLUDE EVENTS with KEYWORDS, but later on I found some other security events to cull out, so I made some using the EXCLUDE EVENTS with KEYWORDS. (My definition of exceptions.) This is what really made the difference in my case.
-
thanks...i guess i'll have to live with it then.
-
could it be that using the NETWORK DISCOVERY at the Orion server will cause this file to get created? maybe it doesn't get created when running it from a desktop's browser.

Yann, My attempt to restore the SQL database has failed with this error. Any idea what this is about? That particular filename with _FG1 is one of the newer files laid down after the NTA 3.1 update.

....well - am i red faced?...duh the SNMP string was passed on to me as lowercase, but it is actually inside the configurations as uppercase. once i tried it uppercase it works great - problem solved - thanks for the replies.. cheers.

For example. It only works when I change this C:\WINDOWS\system32\regina.exe StartService ${Node.Caption} ${ComponentName} to this C:\WINDOWS\system32\regina.exe StartService mynodename audiosrv

To anyone interested in knowing or having or working with these ESX 4 MIBs, you can find them here. http://downloads.vmware.com/d/details/esx40_snmp_mib_dt/ZHcqYmQqaCViZGVqdA== Also, we struggled getting SNMP & SNMP TRAPS working with the documentation offered. The internal tech working on this told me there was an…

We got it working again....required a REPAIR on NetPerfMon's install and re-install of NPM Service Pack....works like a charm again...THANKS!
-
Yes, I have that turned on.

I've tried the refresh but it doesn't seem to have any affect to changing the view contents. Also, I've noticed this problem is not constant. For instance, I'm looking at one right now where the time was 9:xx and then it goes into 10:xx. It seems that extra increment to 10 may have adjusted it to make it look normal across…
-
it apparently does have SNMP TRAP service running then. the next thing i would suggest is to do a sniff on the traffic and see if some system other than Solarwinds is attempting to do SNMP GETs to this IP address - this would generate Authentication Failures if it is trying to use an SNMP Community String not authenticated…

i've just discovered about 50 SonicWall firewalls and the WAN & LAN interfaces work like a charm for monitoring. i'm getting some great stats on them too. we're not using SNMP v3.
