Query came back w/ 117042000, it took 0:46:28 CRAP!! i ran the same query and mine was 297428006!!! and it took me 1hr just to run that query!! i guess its time for maintenance over the weekend!! Have a Solarwinds database that is 180gb big and i just realised that my TrapVarBinds is 94.5gb, Traps, 6.3GB, Syslog is 4.7GB…

Thanks everyone.. all this information is great!!

I agree with the opinions being aired here on this topic. NPM has become a widely used application that no one can live without. We personally have a test environment that we test almost all upgrades or new implementations before pushing it into production. It would be great if Solarwinds allowed for temp licenses for a…

So if im getting this right, all the additional poller is - another NPM server.. i install all my modules on the additional poller as well.. if i patch my primary NPM, i patch my additional poller as well?? Can i have my additional poller run on server 2008 and my primary NPM at server 2003?? Thanks everyone the…

If i made the following changes, would it work? Do i need to restart the services? <add key="proxyAvailable" value="true" /> <add key="userName" value="" /> <add key="password" value="" /> <add key="proxyAddress" value="proxy.example.com" /> <add key="proxyPort" value="80" /> Would this then allow me to poll for updates…

Could this be an opportunity to add it to a future release as a application enhancement?
-
this reports works for now.. what a waste we only keep events for 30days. i was looking for a longer period of time.. thanks though..
-
Did you ever get a response from Support?? what was the fix?? i am running into the same issue - it says stepping past ---(less but it never does..
-
thats the weird thing!! i do have application monitor installed but no defaults.. i just upgraded 2 weeks ago from v7.8....
-
do you know what would work then?
-
I have the same problem. Whenever i restart all Orion services or reboot the server, any active Advance Alerts i have go out all over again.. we have lived with it and the users have stopped complaining..
-
I had no loss of data when i did it.. i just upgraded a couple of weeks ago... and it went smoothly... i had my Orion 7.8 on a server and upgraded it on the same server.. just my two cents worth.. but no loss of data..
-
where does your Orion DB reside? on the same server?? i believe you will have to park you license.. change the IP and name of the server.. run the configuration wizard again, point to the db and as another poster said before, change the engine data in the orion db.. the Orion NPM migration document is really helpful. I am…

I dont see the search aspx anywhere.. i checked and i see it in the right folder.. cant put the url in until i find it... any ideas?
-
Do i have to restart the Solarwinds Website after making these chances to see the outcome.. and it would all be visible under the syslog tab right..
-
i guess you lost all your info as well ehh... started again with a clean state.. i dont mind the losing most of the stats but need to keep circuit info..
-
I hope this works for me too!! i am going to be doing the same thing.. move a physical primary Orion server and a physical secondary poller to brand new VM 2008 r2 servers next week.. did you have any licensing issues? how were you able to back up and transfer you licenses from the old server to the new VMs?
-
so the additional poller is pretty much just another NPM on a different server? Does the Additional Poller automatically load balance between the primary poller? or Do i have to manually assign nodes to the additional poller?
-
i already have the key.. i just dont know where to apply it.. my license manager doesnt show Orion v10 in the list..

Alerting Scenario We have several "wall meeting' wireless devices and they have a habit of disconnecting from the APs and the only way we know that they are down is when someone walks by and tells us. The unit gets a DHCP address so we cant monitor that way and it cant be statically assigned (as told by vendor) - weird but…
-
do i just put in a ticket for a temp key??
-
But when you do this doesnt it send out all the active alerts all over again..
-
Thanks.. this will surely come in handy when upgrading..
-
With that said, what role does the memory used gauge play in this scenario? What OID is used when polling the "Memory usage of this guest"? it would be usefully to make that into a chart that my users can use.
-
you are right. its under admin - web console settings.. i forgot that was there..thanks..
