Anyone completed an upgrade to 9.8? We are currently on 9.6 and just wondering how much of a lift it really is. Guide makes it sound like all the settings will just cross over. We have a few filters and email alerts set up based on those. Contemplating if it would be easier to standup a new server and just switch the IP…

It is Adva. With your comments though I do think Solarwinds is more advanced with being able to monitor and create custom pollers and whatnot, so I may just scrap this idea. It's not like it is a ton of traffic and I have it isolated to its own network segment.

LOL, I don't completely understand either. I was actually referring to this post: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/resources/thwack-command-center/f/forum/29777/does-solarwinds-have-a-southbound-interface from six years ago. I couldn't find anything more recent really referencing northbound or southbound that seemed…

I've been testing the Waveserver and 6500 options, but those don't tend to work. I've pushed it back to Ciena to see what they can tell me further.
-
I've dug through a lot of these MIBs testing them with no luck. It's like the 5171 is combining products that they never fully tested MIBs on. I can get every other port, even 100G QSFP28, to work just fine. It's just this silly optical port that doesn't fit into the Waveserver or 6500 family. I did get a response from…

I've got a ticket open with Ciena trying to find what MIB I need to even use to get the traffic statistics, but so far getting no where. When I go through the mib list and test, most don't seem to work on the device, so a bit at a loss here.

UPDATE - The support tech was very efficient and attentive, I was just horribly impatient. I was provided with a script that dropped the NCM tables and recreated them. Thinking hard about this now I believe at one time we had NCM installed as a trial for a dev environment we had, but it is no longer used anymore. I tried…

Just finished up verifying all is good on my end. Will post an update.

I wish I could even remember what this was in regards to three months ago.

I'm running into the same issue, currently on 2020.2.6, not latest HF. If I go to the Updates & Evaluations tab on My Orion Deployment it says I'm set to install 2020.2.6 HF versions. Do you have to be on the latest HF for this to register the upgrade? I can download on the customer portal, but if I do the Check Version…

I'll pass this on.

Ah... we try to look through release notes for these kinds of notices, and could have missed it. Any idea when it was deprecated?
-
I wasn't seeing that error anywhere, so wasn't thinking it was related. I'll show this to applications and see if they can expand on it.

Wonderful response on this - you noted a number of things we have discussed as well. Thank you.

To help answering my own question I found this in my settings that helped to explain why you may need an APE: https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/Poller-Status-Warning-A-poller-is-either-approaching-or-in-excess-of-its-polling-rate-limit?language=en_US Main poller is at 47%, APE is at 13% and I just got…

THIS!!!! I am so thankful for this post as I have been dreading and putting off my migration/update. I still have my large SLX NPM install to do, but I have at least gotten NTA moved over and it was as smooth as could be. For reference I had NPM 12.1/Orion 2017.1.3 SP3 and NTA 4.2.2 on 2012 servers and I'm on the latest…

The second installer I tried was 1.3.1.493, Due to size I think I deleted the other one, so cannot confirm the version on that oen. The installer launched fine and worked through a good portion. The service got restarted when it was installing the C++ redistributable.
-
I tried each. I got the full meal deal online installer first and when that didn't work I used the upgrade advisor to get what I thought was individual installers, but ended up being the offline version.

I do have an open case (48272) and I'm going to try their suggestion on Monday hopefully, but it does not make sense to me. The install process stops and says I need to close the Information service process. I close that, click retry, but if I watch task manager it goes through the process of installing everything again…

Not too old of a post to bring up. I'm trying to upgrade my 2008 server to 12.1 before migrating over to the new 2012 servers. The all in one 12.1 installer is not working. It stalls out by restarting and not closing Solarwinds Information Service V3. I kept trying to close it but then it starts the install process back…

This was totally it, when we added those other two native pollers everything came up correct, the node was down and the polling time updated correctly. I'm wondering now if this bit of the code to add a node ever worked or if at some point in upgrades Solarwinds changed how they were doing native pollers, but yay for…

Sure enough, deleting these stopped the alerts. YAY! 10 less emails a day!
-
Winner, winner chicken dinner! Well that was a pretty easy fix to bump it! When I changed to ICMP it started collecting stats right away, changed back to SNMP and it kept updating the time to poll. Thanks for the fix!
-
I'm adding on to this because I did go find another table. With the help of this post: Python Orion SDK - Q: HowTo discover new device into NPM BUT disabling some standard pollers I went to the Pollers table in the db and compared the portal and manual added nodes... low and behold only two pollers are actually assigned to…

Just some feedback, I'm waiting for the alert time this afternoon to see if it made a difference. Despite not seeing the drives listed when I check resources under the Node, I did find them listed when I go to Manage Nodes and expand the resources. I deleted one as a test to see if I only get 4 rather 5 alerts.

If I take the existing NPM100 DB from a 2012 SQL install and migrate it to a 2019 SQL install, could there be issues with that transition before completing the NPM/NTA upgrade? Drawing this out I think I'd like to go for the option to move my NPM/NTA install to its own SQL DB for both NPM and flowstore. Then that leaves my…

Just what I needed. I feel I have seen it before, but then couldn't find it again. Going forward with budgeting now.
-
I compared a node that I had added using our portal and one that I manually added by clicking "Add Node" and really didn't see much of a difference. Since the portal added node isn't truly up the SNMP fields are not populated. I did note that the NextPoll is not refreshing, but looks like NextDiscovery and LastSync do…

Ah see I was hoping someone would say something that would lead me down a different path then what I have been looking at. The Alert scope is set on All objects in my environment. When I show the list I see the specific child objects... wondering if I can eliminate those specific ones? It looks like an auto detection…

Forgot to mention I've tried that too... and rediscovery...
