I did that once and sent the file to my wife to ask her what was wrong with it... She said me... :)

Most certainly do the manual compact and repair first and the give this a read as well: http://www.thwack.com

Mark, The only module I have is Orion... The issue is completely different, but I'll save that info for when its fixed.... Christopher is on it. Thanks
-
I'll give it a shot this weekend. Thanks again
-
When? its been months since you posted this and still nothing.... LA is terrible
-
also another question I have, Is anyone else using the SYS LOG and monitoring switchports that are uplinks, trunks? MAN L2 connectivity ports, such as gigaman? If so how are you monitoring the specifc ports without getting all the ports that go up and down on a switch? We don't use Syslog messages for monitoring uplinks,…

Hey I just read Denny's notes on v8.5.1 (look near the bottom)... "The data portion of ICMP packets is now empty by default." DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!
-
We're planning to add that soon. Could you make that an optional (yes/no) global and or "by node" type feature. It would be sad to burn up a polling engine with sub-interfaces or un-routed VLANS
-
which version of Orion are you on? and have you contemplated re-running the set-up wizard yet?

'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three,…

I'm not even going to try to play with this, but here is the link to the changing SQL Collation... http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144260.aspx

I would suggest trying to use the Solarwinds Database Manager to do a "Compact" operation on the DB. However, I am not a DB expert, so this may not be the fastest way to resolve your issue. If your going to do this, I would recommend doing the tables individually. Doing the entire DB at once might take a while, so for…

hey Vic, what browser are you using (IE5,6,7 FirFox etc...) I see you posted another message on the Lean & Green Layout, but have you tried re-setting your forum view back to the defaults, then re-customizing it?
-
On a second look at that thread, thats not going to fix your issue.... Although you could: Replace the Last XX Events resource with a Report Writer - Turn a Report from Report Writer into a Web Resource. You will lose the "fruit loop colored field" look; but you can filter it any way you want to.
-
I created a .bat file to do that for me since I have 10 Polling engines and 15 Engineers with EE.
-
Down time is on Orion is critical as I has to beg and plead to attempt this upgrade. After having to revert back to an older snapshot of the server to get Orion back up and running, I dont think the powers that be will allow another upgrade attempt anytime soon. Maybe you could use this experience to build a solid business…

A Report or a Chart for your specific interface? Have you tried that report from the Report Writer console on the server for that interface?
-
The current answer is: No; this is not possible even in 9.0 SP2, but it is being considered.
-
Okay; I know its early(5:30) but is Hotfix 4 to be installed on all servers (Orion,HSB, and Polling engines) or just the main Orion server?
-
The only thing I can think of is On-line Administrators Guide
-
One thing I got out of support from another issue is I created a job (batch file) that deletes all of the *.tmp files and cleans out the temp folders every night. This increases performance as well.. FYI can you paste or attach your batch file for us?

I think the information that you are looking for is at the bottom of this file: C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\swdebugMaintenance.log First line: 2008-07-22 01:00:11,044 [1] INFO DatabaseMaintenanceGui.Program - Database Maintenance Starting. Last line: 2008-07-22 01:43:02,777 [1] INFO…

My Question is can i give a ''full screen Map only'' for a user and it shud work untouched for many days..no time outs no refresh required ? You will want to setup a "console" userID in Orion, assign it a Custom Menu that has the Map Only; then log into Orion from the PC that feeds the Plasma display with that userID. Here…

I have some event type reports already built, and will post them to the CSZ when I can.
-
glad to hear you added them manually, but as for not being discovered in the discovery process, you might want to slow down the overall speed of the discover for nodes on slow links or nodes that are just busy.
-
Why not use Custom property editor and simply limit new web accounts by their respective custom property. Unfortunately the Custom Property Editor will not currently add properties to the Accounts table... :(

agree to disagree... restating what i stated is not a disagreement. egress etymology: Latin egressus, from egredi to go out, from e- + gradi to go egress = output Knowledge Base: http://support.solarwinds.net/kbase/ProblemDetail.cfm?ID=406 salavie - as in life goes on...

are the other devices (that discover correctly) running this IOS

The db server is a "standard" HP Blade with two physical drives. The first drive is partitioned into two(1-OS, 1-Apps); the second drive only has NetPerfMon.db, the sys db files, and the page-file. The db's get backed-up daily. NetPerfmon is around 50GB. SQL2005 SP3 all tweaked out and 27GB memory dedicated to SQL. Nightly…

[Why not disable "Allow View Customization" for those users whom you don't want to see the Edit icon? like I stated in one of my earlier posts: Sure enough, even with graphical instructions, the very first person clicked that instead of the Update Notes button...
