with as much business as SolarWinds gets from the federal sector, how is this not a thing?
-
A bump of his bump

Dont get me wrong NCM does alot but this is the biggest weakness in the product IMHO. It very hard to implement much automation with this product until you get something like this working.
-
I would also add the "auto hide" option that so many resources have.
-
concur. this is very much needed.
-
concur. We could use this in a lot of ways.

thanks, I think my A/V may be blocking some of this program from running as Its not generating these for me. ill look into this.

I know this is an old thread. This as been implemented with Nodes, Interfaces and Volumes but apparently UNDP cant be used to change node status...SIGH...Very Frustrating Feature Request here:
-
We would love pollers, and component monitors (powershell preferably) added next for perf stack support. excited about this feature nonetheless!
-
An option to include the tab views along with the main view would also be nice.
-
Here is a powershell example. Replace the hostname, and create the file with your powershell creds. make sure to have the proper path to that file. #Intialization Add-PSSNapin SwisSnapin $hostname='IPADDRESS' # Uncomment this line when you first create the script. It created a file with the password stored as a hash. #Then…

Looks like they are building this functionality into NTA 4.2: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-176517

Actually I found this KB (SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: How do I add a MIB to the SolarWinds database? How do I add OIDs to the SolarWinds database?) Apparently this is the way MIBs are supposed to be added to the MIB DB...

sotherls, This is definitely possible as the source and destination country are in the database views. Here is an example query to do what you want. However I have some DB performance issues so I can't get this to run unless I am looking at the last 5 minutes of flow data or so. If you have a DBA they may be able to…

We have SWQL scripts that delete stale volumes and then we have discoveries running on automatic intervals to discover nodes and new volumes. Not the most elegant but it works for us.

I would also like to be able to leverage account limitations to determine zoom level and the center point for the worldwide map like I articulated here: Using Worldwide map with Account limitations to define zoom level- NPM 11.5??
-
yes especially hardware health monitoring is needed.
-
component values or messages can be inserted into alert messages like what is described here: Re: Powershell Output to an Email message
-
Have you tried building a search via SQL?
-
add in the ability to honor account limitations as well.
-
I would also add that it would be nice to have NCM functionality that can download the show access list results from each firewall and then imports it into FSM for analysis. See this post for more details: How to automate show access list output collection for FSM
-
It sounds very promising, but would need to know more about how it works to say whether it would be useful. We would use something like this for custom apps all over private networks.
-
I would like to see any topic covered in SolarWinds lab covered in more detail. One way to to spend more time going over use cases and situations where topic covered could be applied.

I think the SNMP credentials you are using dont have access to the correct OIDS. SolarWinds NPM can poll hardware health for cisco routers, switches, asa and lots of other devices. Like is mentioned on this thread it does not for storage appliances. this is a big gap in SRM.
-
I would recommend that QoE have support for protocols used for real time traffic like VOIP and IP Video. These are extremely common applications that are very sensitive to network quality issues.

Andy, Have you looked for videos on how to create the rules in LEM? I had a hard time too initially but once someone one showed me, I found it pretty easy to use. We like LEM because of the tons of built in rules, and the agent which gives you the ability to take actions on end devices. I only wish you could create custom…
