  • I was able to submit the ticket, but I cannot attach the log that shows the problem.
  • I was able to get this to work only by replacing nodeid with IP address. I found that the nodeid isn't always mapping in the Traps table, but the IP address is always there. Thank you very much for this example.
  • You ain't kiddin' about my keyboard!
  • The same problem has arisen here after upgrading to Solarwinds 12.2. Was there a solution found? Merci d'avance.
  • Hello Richard, On a related note, does the trap from a particular device need to be sent to the poller that is actively polling it, or can it be sent to the primary poller in all cases, even for devices managed by additional pollers? It isn't clear from the documentation, but from this thread I surmise I don't want to send…
  • Hello Salah, It is a matter of the report being scheduled but not writing to the expected output directory and file. I can send a report via email, so I know the report is running as scheduled. But we need the report written to a csv in a file. I will review the troubleshooting document; thank you for that link. Regards,…
  • Any word on when there will be a fix? We also switched to https and I have been trying to update SW email contents. Regards, Joe Poutre BNP Paribas
  • We too could use better monitoring for our Checkpoint devices.
  • That link appears to be broken; it doesn't lead anywhere specific.
  • Have the recent releases improved monitoring of Checkpoint firewalls? We also have clusters we want to monitor as clusters, not just individual devices.
  • Is this something we should plan to implement sooner rather than later? Beyond the improved features over the old Viewer apps, are those doomed in the near future? Thank you, JoeP
  • Some say he is the one true font of knowledge for all search engines, and that electrons are actually shaped like his head. All we know is, he's not the Stig but the Stig's uber-geek cousin, Network Stig.
  • We have (at least) two devices where this happened. Additionally, looking back using both Events and Message Center I don't see any Node Removed events, and I know I removed a node this past Sunday. I did upgrade our Orion environment, but that removal was after the entire upgrade was completed so it should still be in the…
  • Hey, for Question 3, I'm bigger than my managers, so challenging them to MORTAL KOMBAAAAAT! is part of MY game plan, so I should have gotten credit for it! (Sometimes it's more fun to choose the "wrong" answers! )
  • Is there an official list of each place to find the MIBS.cfg file on a Windows server? Perhaps by application name? I have found more than one copy of the file, and now keep them all up to date. On the other side of the coin, is it really necessary to have multiple copies of the file to satisfy the needs of different apps?…
  • You would use the Trap Viewer, building a filter rule that only chooses those traps you consider Critical, and then setting a rule on it. If you review the trap rules you'll see you can filter by device name(s), IP address or range, alarm type, and more. You might need to build multiple rules, depending on your…
  • The online ticket submission system is not working. I tried last evening, and didn't realize my ticket hadn't been taken. I've tried again this morning, but it is still failing.
  • Hello, We are monitoring them, using NPM 12.5, and it is successfully polling their CPU and memory without using UnDPs. Regards, Joe Poutre
  • Windows 2016, MS SQL 2016, all without internet access so it was offline upgrades. Dev instance, single poller, DB and NTA on other servers, went well. I had to tweak the IIS setting from Network to Local after, but that is a known issue with our setup. Prod instance on one primary and two additional pollers also went…
  • Hello, I don't know if you'll see this after 4 years, but here is what I found. To include the entire trap as a message you need to use this format: \"${MESSAGE}\" I hope this helps somebody. Joe Poutre BNP Paribas
  • Hello Lee, Have you checked the options in Report Writer? I just looked and see that one can find the Interface Speed, both Administrative Status and Operational Status, and Physical Address (MAC). I do not see Duplex, though. Regards, Joe
  • FYI: the log files I needed to review are in C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion and were: ActionsExecution ActionsExecutionAlert ActionsExecutionReport I'm still working on an company-approved cert. Thanks to all who replied. Joe Poutre, BNP Paribas
  • Hello Dave, I have encountered the same error, and discovered the following permission setting is required on other pages here in thwack: Do I need some special SQL server permissions? Yes. The NTA Flow Storage database account requires the ALTER ANY CONNECTION permission in order to schedule and optimize the daily…

  • Reporting is neither intuitive nor easy. We have requirements to generate performance analysis across groups of devices, identify the "noisiest" interfaces, and a variety of other reports. Some of these are ad hoc, others are meant to be emailed every day, so we can't build a whole new page. In building reports we should…
  • Sorry, I meant to state that the NSM Summary page search can take 10-15 seconds.
  • We use them for device location, device ownership including monitoring escalation information, and build state. And we build groups around them, which in turn can be used for alarms and reports.
  • We had a requirement to show all ports on a set of switches, whether attached or not, and their state. Here is the query I ended up creating in Report Writer: For your purposes you could drop a couple of the fields, like VLAN and ConnectedTo. In our case I also added a Filter Results to get just the required devices, but…
  • Hello, Trap Viewer. Login to your primary NPM server to bring this up. Once in there you have many options to handle traps. In our case we reformat and forward the traps to another system that turns them into alarms. If you look through NPM discussion history you'll find other ideas on how to use the features of Trap…
  • Hi Steve.wallis, I would recommend the same thing I will be investing in soon - an SCP voucher. I have enough points accumulated and am now going through as much training and reading as I have time for in anticipation of taking the test. Then some socks, because one can always use some cool argyle socks. Regards, JoeP
