OK, the thing you're saying only work, with one dependencie, so, please explain me how to make yhis to work: I have a switch conected to two WAN routers, if the switchs goes down and one of the routers (or the two) is up the alert must be trigered, but if the two routers are down the alert must be supressed. Someone could…

thanks for the post njoylif. Let me get this straight, maps are only one layer deep? My nodes on the layer 3 and 4 map do not show on the Parent

Thanks for the screen shots. If the switch (tier 3) becomes unavailable, will a attached node to this device (tier 4) send a alert or will this be covered in a different alert. Will a new alert will need (must) to be created for the the nodes on the site that indicates to supress the alert if the Tier is less than or equal…

JA, That further describes the same issue I am experiencing.
-
Thanks. how do I determine what hotfixes are installed. Should i reinstall them to see if it fixes the issue?
-
Map status will be UP on parent Maps if 100% or more objects on Map are UP. If number of UP objects is below 100%, Map status will be Warning, Down, or Unknown. Even with this setting, the issue still occurs.
-
The attached screen shot displays what we currently have setup and appears to be working; however, we have not tested. The alert has not triggered yet because nothing has become unavailable. If someone has confirmed that this type of setup is correct, please reply; otherwise, I will continue to test. The logic here is that…

is anyone looking into the issue shown in the event log above? thansk.
-
thanks.
-
"Show Child Map" is not an option. Are you referring to "Show Child Status Also"? If so, then yes, it is checked. All objects on the Parent Map are in question. Thanks for the response.
-
yes, 8.1 with all hotfixes.

. Wrong SNMP community string. SNMP service went down. Firewall blocking port 161. I had all of those covered. The only thing I saw that could have caused the issue was high bandwidth utilization. Could this be what causes it?
-
I have attached a screen shot of what I believe is the correct way to set this up. Could someone please help answer if this is correct? Your expert high-impact network management support is greatfully appreciated.

I think the behavior that Craw is talking about is when the small indication of an issue is an indication that a specific interface or node is down and not the entire reference. When you drill down and look at the icon for the specific interface, it is a solid red dot. I am pretty sure this is by design by the reason of…

Has it ever worked for you?

thanks for the reply dclecompte. Question: since the Basic alert does this, how does it do it? Is the last boot time stored in a existing table? What table? Can that table/value be referenced in a Complex Condition? Thanks again.
-
Ok, so transmit % wasn't what I intended to say. I was wrong to say that and I won't let it happen again. ; ) If we have IPSLA enabled, we will need to add VoIP monitor plugin. Is this a seperate plug in that needs to be purchased seperately? How does it work? Can we get a trial version to look at it?
-
well darn. I would sure like to see a add on to do this. Is there a workaround?
-
Thanks. What are some of the examples of reasons why we could ping a node but not get SNMP information to give a unknown state?
-
Thanks. would increasing the SQL timeouts resolve this issue? What timeout setting should I use? I currently have 20 for the connection timeout in seconds and 90 for the Database timeout in seconds.
-
Could you please attach a screen shot of how it looks in the advanced alerts? Your expert high-impact network management support is greatfully appreciated.
-
You can clear out advanced alerts in Sys MGR by unchecking the alerts in edit and then refreshing the alert events. This will clear them out in the Web interface. I tried that, but that did not work. I fixed it setting a Reset Condition in the Alert. If there is no reset condition, the alert will remain as an active…

any progress on duplicating Exception in MainTask Loop event log entry and the resolution? does disabling Netbios over TCP resolve the issue?
-
I have to restart the Solarwinds Alerting Engine service about every three days or so to allow logging into the web interface. Version 8.1 with some hot fixes. I also have the following error in an Event Log: [MainTaskThread] ERROR All - Exception in MainTask Loop Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to…
-
I already tried that and I don't like what I see because it doesn't show me what I am looking for. The following shows the SQL that the report uses when generating a report as you recommended: SELECT Nodes.Caption AS NodeName, Nodes.Status AS Status, Nodes.ResponseTime AS Response_Time, ActiveAlerts.EventMessage AS…
-
That worked. I appreciate your help. There is a unmanaged status in the nodes table as well so the Events table does not have to be queried.
-
I don't think the step through works right.
-
Looks like this is discussed already

I am experiencing the same issue. When my submaps or child status' indicate issues, the indication does not propagate to the parent map. I searched the forum and found old tips; I applied all tips, threshold 100%, propagate to parent map node option checked on all nodes. Is there a patch to resolve this issue? It would be…

any info on the best way to organize alerts? I would like to supress a alert after acknowledged so that the alert does not keep firing off while bringing the link up and down for maint or testing. In detail, there are several nodes that are listed and I need to supress the alert for the individual node that is in maint or…
