That's a good idea. It looks like we are going to have about a dozen W2003 servers hanging around past the date. Might borrow your idea about the firewall rule. Maybe we need to move them to a separate VLAN while we are at. hmmm.. The possibilities.

I was just undergoing this same task for our environment. Getting ready to build a script to connect to each and grab the configs. Then diff them against my "master" and then put them back up. I want to ensure all alerts match and the same basic metadata is active.

It seems that alerting is the issue as we are building policies similar to what you describe.

I agree that would be nice. Within an HTTPS SSL connection from the trusted web server, having the second secure connection SSH I think this would be very beneficial and the security risks minimized.

I am a big proponent of using the static reservation within the DHCP server. That way you could manage the allocation but still rely of the DHCP benefits. Thanks!
