Sort of helps to keep security at the top of list. Strange world where the bad guys get rewarded twice .......

I agree this would be a great feature. It would be helpful to know each time an update is published what devices have been added.

I too take a logical approach. Need to first identify the pattern of the fault or failure. Does it reoccur at regular intervals? Does it affect A user or ALL users? Is it tied to a site or geographic location? Consulting the change management logs, what changes occurred recently? As most data centers have evolved over…

This post got me thinking. So, I checked on some of my old consultant work and found out that one agriculture establishment still had their Lantastic network running. That took me back!!!

Perfectly timed article. We are experiencing many of the pains you describe. Too many "the sky is falling" messages from security without an impact versus likelihood analysis and too many of these must be reviewed and completed now preventing anything else from actually getting done. For instance, I received a notice that…

As I have been deploying the latest 802.11ac access points I would find it interesting to compare a test plan from then to now!

Now that is a great idea. Might have to see about that since our offices are fairly close to the bistro!

Such a thought provoking article. The engineer side of me thinks constantly about HA and when and where to deploy load balancers. It has taken a number of years for our environment to start to get there though. It seems that everyone wants the uptime but truly getting the $$ is the challenge Thanks for the posting.

I was thinking the same thing. We acquired a business that uses O365 and we have made some changes via pokes and prods to it. But it was interesting to see the steps on how it actually got setup. Thanks for a great post!

It has been an interesting past 10 years. I have seen a surge to move towards virtual desktops which is a modern version of the serial terminals that I worked on in early 1980's. Having all the processing on a central core and simply having screen, keyboard, mouse, and ethernet connectivity instead of serial connectivity.…

Interesting read. Some thoughts though. If part of your IT support system are non-technical, non-traditional IT people, how do you get them to understand the overall picture of how that parts fit together? Being a long-time IT person, I know how the infrastructure layers work together. Thoughts?

It becomes a matter of trust and security. I think most business as you state have the database as the core and unless security can be proven, do not want to worry about the safety of the information in the cloud. Granted the maintenance tasks may be lessened but the connectivity reliability and the security issues are at…

Seemed to reasonably priced per scanner. What volumes have experienced it with and how well does it integrate into SIEM systems?

Thanks for the information.

It's funny in the modern win 8.x you have concept of an App container and everything that makes up the application completely contained in the installation folder. Sound like the days of DOS where you didn't have to worry about the registry and what .dll got mixed into the windows folder and the application folder. Some of…

I did not realize the breadth of the solarwinds products. Thanks for the post!

Interesting article. I know that today we have 1.3 GBps wireless but I can only imagine 100 GBps.
