Interesting tacts on a similar situation we all face on the daily basis. Usually, it has been comparing hard and soft dollars (real down time and labor) when something goes bad to the cost of tools and process changes that will improve efficiences. It is truly a cat and mouse game as I have witnessed in long IT career!

This would definitely be a handy addition. Sometimes it is easy to get distracted while adding a new node and forget to go back and add it to the job listing. I just ran into this situation while adding new location inventory.

This raises a question for me as I am beginning to walk down the path of a cisco device refresh. Migrating from 3750 to 3850 access switches. I was planning on migrating the configs including the IP address of the switches. But, I really do not want to have to delete and re-create dozens of switches to get the correct…

The only drawback my organization has is NOT having a good change management process. Overall, the configuration management is in check but things can and do get modified without the supporting documents. The recent staff turnover has brought some of that to the light and we are actively engaged in solving that issue.…
