There is an alert I use for network devices that looks for a machine type change. This works quite well for my purposes. I haven't tested it on servers, but it may work there as well.

As far as I can tell, this is just an automated way to detect a device type, or manually change if you want or need to. It looks like the only choices are Server, Network and Other.
