For additional reference, our ticket was Case # - 02071356

We are currently on 2025.2 and had a SolarWinds ticket about 'View by Device Type' and not able to open that page, same error you mention. What follows is the support response. It's a known issue. The issue is caused by an inefficient internal SWIS query used by the legacy Views by Device Type page. The query retrieves:…

I have been looking for the same thing, primarily for Rx interface errors. Our network team has this working on HP OpenView. I think they are doing some backend scripting to get exactly what they want, but they say it at least reports this as a percentage. In my research, so does CiscoWorks. Our team is asking for looking…

I am currently being asked to do something similar to this for a customer. The current preference is a report we can send out rather than trying to manage outside customer accounts in SolarWinds. One other 'gotcha' after I was showing this off was they want an aggregate chart showing total bandwidth for all of their…

You are bringing up many things that popped into my mind with this deployment. I need to find the document about it I was shown a month ago, but it sounds like the exact technology they were going to deploy at this site, for the same reasons.

Maybe, but what about the last mile to the hosted location? Someone excavating near the cloud data center? As for taking the backhoe through the redundant connections, well... We did have that construction project where they dug up both our fiber feeds, the campus cable TV feed, and the PRI trunk feeds in one hour.…

It isn't always what CIOs bring back. In my last job it was more often other departments and a college president that ordered IT to "just do it". No opportunities to use existing or develop policies, just a blanket order from an uninformed executive we couldn't counter under any circumstance.

One huge catch with integrating for us is we need to be able to filter what interfaces are imported into NPM. Currently if I try to import an NTM discovery into Orion, it wants to import every node (good) and every single interface of every switch (not good). We don't have licensing for every single interface on every…

I really think that in media like news, at least here in the states, it is heavily influenced by advertisers. Advertisers and ratings drive media. Sensationalism is rampant and news stories do seem to be bent to certain points of view and not just facts. I can see this easily happening in internet as well.

Mine is unfortunately expired.

Oh, so we better sniff out any politicians or future politicians in Thwack and boot them out so they don't get ideas from our posts.
-
Same here as well.
-
Same state, and I get calls every day, sometimes multiple calls despite being on the state and federal lists. I think I need a white list solution for incoming calls.
-
This seems to work now and we don't have to change anything in the database. Alert Details: http://<yourserver>/Orion/NetPerfMon/ActiveAlertDetails.aspx?NetObject=AAT:${N=Alerting;M=AlertObjectID}
-
As they say, scammers and criminals won't honor the no-not-call lists. This is why I kind of would like a white listing solution. I don't ever need calls from scammers or criminals, and I don't need or want sales cold calls, especially not on my cell phone.

Recently we have been having this problem with stack switches where one switch is pegging at 100%, but the average CPU load is only 35%.

We took that approach with the facilities HVAC system controls, and campus security's key fob and other security systems. Those were so old and vulnerable it was almost worse than IoT stuff. We couldn't scan the HVAC IPs inside though, it crashed the systems controlling the HVAC. Bad stuff there.

I saw this one happen at my last job a few short years ago. It wasn't pretty.
-
I would add to that Custom Properties. We need to add 2-3 per node. This might be easier during Discovery import rather than going back and adding them later. Currently, each discovery job is related to specific Custom Properties for organization and alerting.

I used this for reference on interface error rate, how to calculate it, what is acceptable including the reference to the 802.3ab standard. This fits almost exactly to what our network team was asking for as far as interface error alerting. It does involve calculating errors as a percentage of total traffic at that time.…

Unless I change jobs, I may not get to those salary numbers. State government here is pretty stingy on the raises, it follows a step increase chart. Reclassifying my job to get to a higher classification level last time took over a year to approve and still only gave the equivalent of one step increase in pay. There is…

That last bit with the graphs sounds like something we were after for a NOC display.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to set a font in there. That might be for the developers to figure out. I do know that I noticed the font differences when doing the copy/paste into text documents and picking the correct font tended to fix the formatting for my documentation in the past.

I really liked one of the bus tours, the tour guide was really nice, from the area and knew his stuff. That one took us through Long Island and Brooklyn, and... We stopped at 2 different Pizza joints for different styles of NY pizza. It was called "A Slice of Brooklyn Bus Tours". Yes, they have a website and everything.

Hi Serena, I will look at the link you provided. We may need to go that route, especially since we have many problems in our current environment. That doesn't' mean some of our problems are not database issues, but we are currently experiencing multiple issues. (I have 4 tickets for different issues currently open. Would…

We just brought up MS IPAM recently. I can't get any budget for another solution. It has limitations, especially where static IPs are concerned. Either that or we have not figure out that part of the tool yet.

Scope creep is a huge bane. I can easily see the D&D an IT similarities here. I still feel the pain of planning a weekend of a campaign only to have the jokers take off in a completely different direction. I have seen a this in a few recent IT design and implementation projects as well.

I have seen and heard people talking about closing down older methods of producing energy with the attitude that it is long past time for them to go. This article points out the one huge problem with that idea; the dependency on the weather and what happens if it there is no wind, or it is dark (or other obstacles covering…

Our college campus has very tight budgets, especially now with overall student enrollment declining and concerns of what money will become available in the coming years from the state legislature. I have tried for a few years to get an IPAM solution to eliminate the spreadsheets, but couldn't get the money approved for…

True, but I was just thinking of running the live feed on one of the NOC screens or a secondary desktop screen just for the heck of it.
