I did try this and it worked for a while but now not working. Is there another flag I need to be worried about? I notice there are two on the HTTPS monitor. I will search around but if you know, let us know. Your help is much appreciated! On Tue, Sep 2, 2014 at 9:22 PM, aLTeReGo <

I did follow that backup suggestion, archivelog backup. And I did restore to a 30 day trial instance and it worked just fine. I saw entries from last weeks backup in it and only those. This is our solution for forensics.

I was given the same advice and it worked. The perl script in the pdf that they give you clears out the partitions. Sorta makes sense because if I saw right the software uses Solr, indexed file system. It is hard to interject data into the middle. It worked according to plan and my customer gave it a thumbs up. For the…

Thank for the reply. We ended up buying LEM or should be soon. I did notice during the comparison exercise that the LEM VM that I installed the appliance on would not start up again. I had to reinstall it. I can't be doing that in production. Had anyone had issues with this LINUX appliance not starting up or being…

Thanks for the replies and demo. I was able to set it up properly. Folks love it here. We found several issues with applications and access in the first few weeks of using LEM. My competition at the site is Splunk. They are lowering their cost significantly but their out of the box solution is no where close to LEM. The…

LEM does this but I see rushcoil doesn't have it. I like the SAM powershell solution. I monitor root access on Linux boxes and remote admin access on MS servers. Put in a couple rules in LEM and it does it thing. The ISSE likes the email event which ids the folks logging in and the monitor/alert part. I have two for remote…

Thanks for the advice. Off to ask for a New Feature

The return of a 404 proves the web server is alive. So I need to get that page and look for a 404 or get the return code in a script. I can't use the Apache monitors but will ask again. I need to find a Perl or Java script that does HTTP and run it in SAM. I guess. Thanks. Ideas? I haven't done a script in SAM like this.…

Sorry for the delay. Taken over by events. The case number is: 00364686. I should be available. Thanks!!!!!

rstoney00, The Cross Domain Solution that we were going to use was from BlueSpace(Sentinel), but they are going out of business. We either have to buy their code, which hasn't run in production that I know of which implies coding changes as we use it for the first time or we code our own. If we use their product, which I'm…

We merged NCM with NPM with the latest release. Still on the hunt on the NPM server.

I'm on the hunt for that file system. If you off hand, let us know. Something to keep in mind, our ISSM team is thinking of inhaling this file system to do their scans.

LEM does this, I fired up that rule pretty much out of the box. I believe ApplNsight handles this and I just assigned a template which will report on new users being created plus more information than I want to know about for a DC:) I would want to email the event as well.

I'm heading to a new gig, haven't worked with Solarwinds in a few months. Your content here and recent videos has helped greatly. I will be viewing more in the coming weeks.

I just installed LEM and using 6.5. Seems to be okay, my only concern so are is Epic rules seemed backed up. I bounced the server. We are still monitoring in out test lab, monitoring 28 servers and a couple are LINUX.

Thanks.

Not sure if my question is clear and this can be for any alarm. I did this in HP Node Manager, it had a counter that one could easily set. If the alarm or alert it triggered once, you go yellow, the if it is triggered again you go red. So, for example if a node shows up at down it normally goes red, but in this case I…

I can now see my maps and I haven't done anything special other than change one permission on my admin. role, "User can manage credentials for SolarWinds Servers". I can now see my new maps plus the sample but when I save my choice I get "Unexpected error: An error occurred whicle generating map Main Sites" Ideas?

I would like this as well. Also, the export to PDF creates a web page looking thing that is just ugly. Is there a CSV option on the results area or table to unload?
-
There is a procedure for restoring to another LEM. We do that here for old backup files when we have to do forensics. We backup LEM data using the archivelog utility, pack the files away on longer term storage. Exporting to like a spreadsheet type file for particular queries is also available. Usually found on the right…

Marcus I think I'm having the same issue. Did you get any resolve? I saw where rsyslog was not supported and RHEL seems to be running rsyslog per my daemon search but this could be SYSLOG. My agent does install and shows up in the install, but I get a message in the last logged column of >7 days since last log.
-
I have the same question. I'm bonking out on large reports and failing to create .csv and .xls files using the scheduler.
-
Is there a connector for fluentd? Check the list. Maybe send these logs to rsyslog or syslog, forward them to the LEM Linux server. syslog forwarding.

Make sure you have the machine id correct. If you plug it into MS word or another editor, it may change the character set. I use notepad. I cut and paste to make sure I get the characters correct. Did it not work on the web site? or when you dropped the approved key back on the server? Spelling counts on that machine id:)

I can't show you my Dashboard for security reasons, but I/we use the Dashboard for two reasons on our team. I use it for availability and to quickly see any denial of service type of events. My role is an SA/SE so I want to quickly see if the logs are coming in, if they are I'm pretty sure my servers are up. I also want to…

We have found that file:// is locked down on FireFox, so we have to open up that security issue. What I'm doing is linking to diagrams so troubleshooters can pull up engineering diagrams while in the maps. Visio, word, etc. or just to a directory where they reside.
