We don't use the alerting feature.

ChrystalT hit lots of resources for lots of board games, but if you are into conflict simulation (used to be called wargames) check out vassalengine.org. Free system with thousands of modules to play wargames from GMT, Multiman Publishing, Clash of Arms, Compass and others. If one player owns the game you can play.

We use SolarWinds as our main monitoring tool. We also use: Zenoss to doublecheck what are getting from SolarWinds Viavi Observer Wireshark FireSIGHT Looking at going back to Tripwire for some compliance issues... As for GNS3, we have a lonely server with it installed. Moved mainly to VIRL for labs.

I am a true-crime junkie too, but also a history nerd. Some of my favorites, Dan Carlin's Hardcore History, Age of Napoleon.

It would really depend, most of our cloud implementations are 3rd party.

Wow!!!! Thanks. I have really enjoyed these quizzes this month.

SAM is not in my area of responsibility. Outside of my silo.
-
Too many silos. I manage the WAN, no insight into the servers or the databases. Leads to lots of finger-pointing, but doesn't look to change any time soon.

I have attached the MIBS that we got from Trango on these devices.
-
Here is what is showing up when trying to list resources. Dummy and ixp don't show up in the MIB listing from Trango. As these devices are running in a licensed frequency, we had to ask Trango for the MIBs. CPU and Memory Utilization Volume Utilization Real Memory Swap Space / / /mnt/usrcfg /mnt/syscfg lo - dummy0 - ixp0 -…

I would be willing to have further discussions. I have to get back to setting baselines so that tomorrows report is smaller.
-
Points are there. Thanks Kellie!
-
I am using it to see the last baseline. We keep 12 months of configs, so it is helpful, but I guess not needed.
-
We have some Trango devices that aren't showing up right. Trango Giga-2.4.3 1.3.6.1.4.1.5454.1.50 They show up as Trango, but the interfaces and other items show up funny.
-
I voted for that one. The job that we could promote a bulk baseline to all the devices that had changed allowed up to keep the config changes for audits and ensured that our change reports were never too outrageous. The last one that came in was 7MB, the average before that was 680K. We have two reviewers and one person…

I agree with Thoar500, this functionality is crucial. I have almost 800 nodes, spread across multiple hardware types, vendors, and versions of code. Creating a baseline for each is a huge job that would need to be repeated any time changes are made. We have some devices, that there are changes on a daily basis, others that…

The downloaded file is hashed when downloaded. Any change will change the hash even if the changes are backed out. NCM doesn't do the hashing so you end up not knowing that any changes were made. Plenty of products out there that do this, Tripwire is probably the best known. We are being told that we have to do this for…

Kellie, I posted our NOC view, but no points. I am assuming that you are busy...

This is for network devices... I don't monitor any servers. Here is how I have been doing it, not sure it is the right way, but it works though I have to bounce around screens. This is after the change control process is done to make sure that the changes are correct. * Go to Configuration management page. Change to sort…

https://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/10550 Already there. What took 5 minutes in the past to baseline all the nodes in our network, now is taking hours. I don't understand the reasoning for removing the jobs, but the new method really eats up my time.
-
We already use Real Time change detection, but with short staffing, and everything else it doesn't get checked on a real time basis always. The change report job only works if there is a change that is there between polls. In the case of somebody coming in, making a config change, and then backing it out, if they do it all…

We use our ticketing system (Heat by Front Range ) and e-mail to a central address. There are only 6 of us, and we only monitor the network devices (and our own 6 servers). Using the e-mail system allows us to keep the info indefinitely in an easily searched format.

masonstryker wrote: I would use it to automate management windows on my network, so that during our weekly scheduled windows alerts were automatically turned off. This for sure. It is a pain to get alerts during maintenance windows, but when the alerts go to the help desk too, it becomes a big problem. We use our system…

Firetide Wireless Mesh We got these from the manufacturer.

I would love for something like this also. I have tried numerous alerts, and nothing seems to work.

Wow after seeing some of these I am hesitant to post mine.
