I would love to see AppStack in EOC. We have our Network and storage products in one Orion environment, Server and Virtualization in another and SQL with DPA in a third. Because of the amount of components being pulled within our environment we can't have one monolithic Orion instance. Being able to aggregate the info from…

Any plans for API integration with WPM? If we can add/remove/edit transactions though the API that would help us out a lot. Thanks -Jim

Wow, you put in a lot of time on this one. I didn't realize this would be as big an issue as it turned into Your time and effort are greatly appreciated. -Jim

For my issue it seemed to be that the instance value used in Microsoft's performance counters is named inconsistently. Sometimes the instance for total would be _total_ and in others it uses _total or __total__ so if you are seeing the issue I was, and you are putting _total as the instance you could try using a double…

Prefect! Thanks for the info. -Jim

I marked it as the correct answer. If you don't use the check box to use Windows authentication first, it will try SQL authentication first which fills the event logs with SQL authentication failures. -Jim
-
That's an idea. I might have to spin up a test server and try it out to see what happens. Thanks -Jim

Sorry Hotfix 2, not SP...

One more thing, I forgot, It also means that I can't use the latest additional polling engine or additional web server bundle packages even though they say they work with WPM. I need to download the WPM specific ones... which means one more thing to document for the build process should I need to recreate this instance for…

Hi Jiri, Two reasons: 1: We have 6 Solarwinds instances through our environment and may go to 8 or 9 in the next 6 months. Currently we are running WPM on an instance with SAM but we need to split it off to its own instance because we are looking at 500 Synthetic transactions in the next 3 months and 2000+ over the next…

Jiri's answer is the best I have come up with so far but it only imports a recording, it doesn't setup a monitor using the recording, you still need to do that manually. I don't think the API has a lot of controls for WPM so it is very limited in what you can do. -Jim

Nice to hear WPM is getting updates. I was starting to think it was going to be EOL soon. Hopefully a good API update is part of that package. (Hint, Hint ) -Jim

Thanks for that info. I was thinking of using the polling completion or something if I couldn't get a solid up/down engine status. I was thinking the engine status would be in the database somewhere but maybe it's an internal calculation and just not something that can be capture easily. I might have to use parts of your…

Perfect! Thanks for your help. -Jim

I think I got this one figured out. In some instances the instance value uses _total_ and in others it uses _total or __total__ I went back in and started looking closely at the instance on the ASP.NET counters and had to fixa lot of them. Microsoft could use some help standardizing their counter naming I guess Thanks -Jim

I figured I'd need to do something like that. I seem to be spending a lot of time making up non-supported custom solutions like this lately. Any idea what encryption they are using for the passwords? Or what table they keep the XML in ? Thanks -Jim

Here you go: It is not something hitting all of the Fedora servers. Just 6 out of 25 so far have these high CPU issues... Thanks -Jim

I'm not sure, that lists the WPM server which works on 2016 but for player it says: Installing the Player - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support -Jim

Thanks for that info. Looks like you already have it as a feature request so I can wait on it until the next release.

Hi Vinay, Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, we have ALX licenses. The polling server is built with more then the minimum requirements for a large implementation but it doesn't seem to matter how many resources you throw at it since the SAM polling rate seems to be a fixed number. Currently the polling server looks like…

Installing SAM 6.3 SP2 a couple of weeks ago seems to have fixed the issue for us. Not sure if it helps you at all...

That looks interesting. Going to play with some of the info in that thread. We can add resources if we know what they are already so if we can script out a way to discover and enumerate the resources available, we should be able to come up with something that loops through each resource found, matches it to a type and…

Any word on EOC 2.0? Still in beta? Thanks -Jim

Changed my mind on this. Roll EOC's functions into Librato and give it a good way to connect to multiple orion instances so we can pull data from all locations including cloud and have metric consolidation to a single point available from anywhere. Get AppStack into Librato and let Librato handle all the reporting and…

Looks like the same roadmap from 2013 but I'll post this here since I posted it on the old roadmap post too.. I would love to see AppStack in EOC. We have our Network and storage products in one Orion environment, Server and Virtualization in another and SQL with DPA in a third. Because of the amount of components being…

Think I may have figured this one out, there's a check box in the component to use windows authentication first. I just made that change so I'll verify if it works over the next 30 minutes or so... -Jim

It the IP of the node externally accessible or is this an internal IP? If it's internal, is IE on the polling server set to bypass an outbound proxy for that IP address? From the polling server, manually browse to the page you want to get to and copy that value from IE to the HTTP Monitor URL value. Let me know if any of…

Figured this one out. It seems that Solarwinds can't infer the path variables so you need to supply the full path to the mysql binary....

I came across this while researching another issue with importing custom properties. It doesn't help me but might be relevant to your issue: Unable to import custom properties using Internet Explorer - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support -Jim
