  • This this this!! You create a custom summary view to be used as a template for a bunch of departmental dashboards. You get all of the common resources on there that you know every departmental dashboard will need and you now have a nice "template" to use for creating your departmental dashboards. You copy that view a bunch…
  • Yes, did a NetFlow-Lite configuration on a new Cisco 2960-XR stack today and came across this. Hopefully SolarWinds will consider adding this functionality in so that a separate piece of software does not have to be put in between the NetFlow-Lite traffic and NTA. • I know this is an old post, but it still stands. What I think would be even better would be to set ALL thresholds in ALL Orion products to work like SAM Thresholds. In SAM when you set a threshold for a component you define not just the values that you consider Warning/Critical, but also how long the values must be crossed…
  • I agree. In the meantime, if I'm understanding your request correctly, you can use Custom Property fields for storing phone numbers, email addresses, and SMS email addresses for each node. We have custom properties called PrimaryContact1, PrimaryContact2, and PrimaryContact3 as well as PrimarySMS1, PrimarySMS2, and…
  • Hi aLTeReGo, Can you elaborate on the "Web Interface design improvements" and "Active Directory Discovery"? I'm especially curious of the Web Interface design Improvements. Thanks
  • Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding you, but the Unmanage Scheduling Utility does this. You can schedule Nodes, Interfaces, or Applications to be unmanaged in large batch tasks and schedule them to be unmanaged in Orion on a one-time basis, or regular schedule. They've even added the ability to view and edit this info on…
  • I totally agree with your idea and that is definitely a different solution than what we've been using. We use custom properties to set thresholds, however the problem with that is, in the custom properties editor, if I am editing custom properties for volumes I can't sort the volumes by Node custom properties. For example,…
  • This can be done with Orion currently using a Custom Object Resource or Custom Chart. These allow you to put any element on any view type.
  • This all looks great! I'm curious about what the Enhancements to View Restrictions will be? Three things I'm hoping this enhancement covers are: - Independent View Restrictions assignable to each tab (sub-view) on a view. Currently, when a View Limitation is applied to a View, it becomes the restriction for all tabs…
  • Maybe I'm still not understanding, but the Unmanage Utility allows you to schedule the windows using the Scheduled Task Manager. If you are saying that where you work, there is a window where Admins can take down their boxes during a specified time-frame and that you want to monitor statistics during that timeframe but not…
  • Especially considering they offer this same type of grouping in a couple other fields in the product... Two that come to mind are when choosing nodes while executing a Config Change Template script in NCM as well as in the Configuration Management screen in NCM. Both offer multiple levels of grouping. Couple this feature…
  • Actually, it should allow you to group by both Interface and Node properties, both system and custom. What's really funny is in the Custom Property Editor you can ONLY group by interface properties if you are working on interface custom properties... So when I am bulk editing custom properties I use the Custom Property…
  • If you choose to alert on Volume Capacity Forecasting instead of just Volumes you can then choose to alert against a Volume's Critical Threshold (and yes, the Current Value and Critical Threshold in the Volume Capacity Forecasting is the actual percentage used and Critical Threshold of the volume and not the Forecast…
  • Late reply here but yeah, the Unmanage Schedule Utility is available on the Web Console now. You may know this already but for anyone reading this thread that doesn't it may help.
  • There is another request like this here (https://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/1910) that is the same and has 48 votes. I recommend anyone else wanting this feature to vote there (well, vote here too of course), as the larger the number the more attention it should get (I honestly can't believe more people aren't wanting…
  • You can already do this, and have always been able to as far as I know. Read my reply two above yours.
  • Definitely wasn't quoting, but I will now :-) "The Web Interface design improvements listed above are specific to styling changes that should give Orion a more modernized appearance. Additional functionality such as you describe is not related to the the visual redesign of the Orion web interface." And yes, I know that…
  • NPM 11.5 RC2 has individual thresholds for Volumes. It doesn't look quite as pretty as what cczech suggested, but its there. You can also configure your alerts to use Node threshold values as well instead of static numbers, but that feature has been available as long as I've known it, even for volumes. Its just before you…
  • I worry though because I mentioned in one of the threads about the upcoming UI improvements that I hope they fix the Manage Nodes screen and Alterego replied and said that the UI update is only a modernization of the UI and that new functionality is not currently on their roadmap. I really feel like the Manage Nodes screen…
  • I might be misunderstanding, but are you saying that you want individual volume thresholds? I ask because you also mention wanting CPU, RAM, and Response Time thresholds on a per Node basis, which has been a feature of NPM for some time now. Like I said, I'm sure it is just me not understanding what you are asking here…
  • I am super excited about both of these things. That is a great idea for a discovery and will hopefully make things much easier than the nightmare of diligently entering subnets or ranges to include wanted items and exclude others. I just so hope that part of this update (or the Web Interface UI update) includes adding…
  • cahunt wrote: that may be tricky, but I'm voting for it. I have not tried it lately, but it used to confuse older versions if you tried to list resources on more than 1 node at time. I'm not sure what you mean by older versions being confused by that, List Resources is grayed out if more than one node is selected. That's…
  • Yeah, the SysAdmins have no desire to give us access to the ESX hosts themselves, so I'm stuck with vCenter monitoring only... Is there just no way to have it re-scan for disks and discover that those fibre channel disks no longer exist?? I went so far as to delete one of the ESX hosts that is showing the non-existent disk…
  • So I have an issue where our SAN engineer removed some Fibre Channel disks and configured new ones in vSphere and Orion's Hardware Health just doesn't recognize the change. In vSphere it is fine, the old ones are gone and the new ones are there. We poll through vCenter (the SysAdmins won't give us credentials to poll the…
  • I know this is old but did you ever get a resolution to this issue? Thanks, Humejo
  • Yes, but not for each node individually. The Custom Property Editor has fantastic grouping/sorting/filtering/searching capabilities, so bulk editing is VERY easy in there. The other options would be what I mentioned earlier with making Alerts that edit the custom properties for you (very much like a Dynamic Query in a…
  • Well, I gave two methods, one that uses true/false values which would not be a good type of property to use for this type of data and the second using restricted values to create a drop down list of all of the different locations, which is what I would use for your circumstance.
  • And done: I hope this is something the development team can do soon. Its a little weird that such a new module like SRM is missing some common Orion features that have been around for quite a long time now. Thanks again for all of your help Jiri!
  • Was just thinking that, thank you. :-)
  • You can! As discussed it won't be dynamic unless you use the two options I replied with earlier, but... To do so just create new custom property (Settings > Manage Custom Properties > Add a Custom Property) with a True\False Yes\No type. Then, in the Custom Property Editor (Settings > Manage Custom Properties > select the…
