  • I'm not using it integrated with NPM, but that does confirm I needed to go to 5.5.2 first. That version however is not available from the customer portal, at least not that I saw. Upgrading the database first appears to be essential. 6.1 won't operate on any MS SQL server lower than 2005, so I would have had to migrate the…
  • Thanks. I'll give it a shot sometime over the next couple of days and let you know how it turned out.
  • If you can't tell, I have NCP 7 installed already. We had an unfortunate accident with the SQL server housing the NCM 6 database, so instead of rebuilding it I just went ahead and installed v7 and rescanned the network. The scanning feature is nice, I'll admit that. But now that the initial setup is done, scanning is not…
  • I look forward to the fix. We'd really like to be able to monitor bandwidth on those switches.
  • Hmm - can I even go to 6.1 from 5.1? Or do I have to go from 5.1 to 5.5.2 and then to 6.1? the Quick Start guide indicates upgrades to 6.1 are only supported from 5.5.2 or higher.
  • *facepalm* Got it! Thanks!
  • Was not indicating NCM does not have a different cost structure that CatTools. I was indicating you would not have to purchase other Solarwinds products to stay with NCM. Gotcha. Node managment as well as User management are both done through the Web Console and removed from the Win 32 application. This kills some of the…
  • So in that case, I should upgrade on the existing server, then shut it down on the existing server, install on the new server and point it to the old database, correct? I'm assuming I'll need to do some license work in there somewhere as well.
  • I have to register to watch? Really? I'm logged into the site with both my customer ID and my forums user account and it still wants me to register. Is there a document available instead of a video?
  • Just to throw my 2 cents in - I've mentioned this elsewhere - I'd really like to see the scan come up with status monitors (up/down) for the interfaces the same way that the bandwidth monitors come up. If an interface drops, the bandwidth just drops to zero but nothing alarms unless you have manually added all the up/down…
  • This particular one is set to be down, and will notify if someone plugs something into the port: If the port is supposed to be up, the result is set to 1 and will alert if it goes to a different state.
  • Oh, and is it a bug with Fiber Channel switches, or just Dell, or what?
  • Please see the screenshot I attached. If you can see "Monitors: (Top 100)" anywhere, please, point it out to me because I'm not.
  • Thanks for the info! So I guess the answer is "You can't, yet." lol.
  • We don't own a license for SQL Server 2012. Both the SQL 2005 and SQL 2008 servers exist already - I'm simply moving the NCM/NPM databases from the 2005 server to the 2008 sever.
  • I'm trying to see if the upgrade to 7.1 will take care of it first. If that doesn't work, I'll call support.
  • Ok, so now there's an additional database required. In addition to that, it looks like all node management is through the Orion Core. In previous versions, if I needed to add a node to NCM, I could do it right there. Now it appears I have to get into the Orion Core web interface in order to do Node management. There are…
  • Yep - that was it. Strange, because I didn't add one.
  • Sorry - I never got a notification of your reply... Yes, I do get the system uptime back.
  • Ok, so if anyone else ever has this issue, just add three zeros to the end of the value in the default threshold for gigabit interfaces. A pain, I know, especially if you have a lot of gigabit interfaces to monitor... Maybe sometime down the line, the folks at SolarWinds can have it check the interface size when the…
  • Thanks. Any chance this is corrected in the 10.5 RC?
  • Sorry to revive an old thread, but I can't find any newer ones on this subject. 10.7 just released and it's still not available...
  • Are there any plans to make the interface individualized? Our network staff prefers a different view than our operations staff. This was a handy feature in WhatsUp Gold. Each user was able to customize the interface the way they wanted it.
  • Are all my scheduled jobs in the database, or are they on the server somewhere?
  • Ok, thanks. Now I just need to find my instructions for moving the database...
  • My department mostly uses it for monitoring on our network equipment. I personally would like to see ifStatus monitors added as part of the default checks when adding equipment to the system. We have to manually create SNMP monitors for any interfaces we wish to monitor the up/down status of on the switches and routers.…
  • The thick client is still there, however certain aspects of it take you to a web interface as the thick client functionality is no longer there. I recently discovered that I can no longer go into my jobs in the scheduler and edit it in order to look at the script it contains. This used to work in the thick client, but does…
  • I see IPmonitor is no longer on the product list on Solarwinds' main web page. Is the death of IPmonitor far behind?
  • wow. For anyone that cares: It may have been related to the web proxy, but I'm not sure. I made sure the server had direct (non-proxied) internet access, then updated everything to the latest Windows updates, then installed 9.2. That worked fine. Since I did several things, I can't be sure which fixed the issue.
  • In reviewing the job with Tech Support, we found another job that was firing off at 6:00am as well which turned out to be the job that was hogging the cpu. We've turned off the job and will see what happens...
