In that case I would unfortunately go the Solarwinds support route. Re running config wizzard is also a great way to fix issues, thats if you can afford down time.
-
Well I have successfully ran Solarwinds from 12gb RAM and a quad core. Using a SQL with 16gb Ram and a oldish CPU, but that's with a small set up. With the trials your limited by elements anyway. Id say 32GB Ram and 8 virtual cores will be more then enough for NPM on a trial version. I mean the beauty of virtual, see it…

Hey, If that's going for all I would like to take a look at it?
-
Ahh okay! Mmmm I don't think there is away without playing about with the Database however I'm sure I might be corrected. You could also add the asset information to the main interface of each switch and the add in an extra field of the report linked above? Not the best way round it but its an idea. I will have a play an…

Have you tried just stopping and re starting the collector service in Orion Service Manager? Should cut down temp fix time. Does you RAM spike too? Also what version of NPM?
-
I'm guessing you have but have you checked that these are triggering correctly? So you can see visible data loss when you look at the Node in Solarwinds? You also said the Service doesn't stop. Assuming you can't see it stopping in the windows logs? Being windows its also worth checking windows firewall settings. Do you an…

@"sturdyerde" I did this one by mistake. I wanted general discussion. I was reading a trending post and it was listed as discussion. I clicked on that link and then posted. It was after that I spotted its in completely the wrong place.

Good to know I'm not alone! :) I feel like Sampson after a haircut, with out being able to copy and paste images

Hi, I have read that but when I checked the DB I couldn't find any volume metric for the VM's. only for the hosts. I looked at Virtualmachinevolumes and couldn't see anything in there. Only VM's I'm physically monitoring. I have all vCentre's managed by VMAN, just almost none of the VM's monitored as it creates way to much…

It wasn't, However that has proved very useful. So thank you for that as we did need a quick way of telling how many components are on each node. I just need and running total field. IE every time a Component name is listed there will be a column that counts, so it will just go 1,2,3,4, ect I have this at the moment.....…

Would be a great excuse to get a Raspberry Pi
-
Hi Alex, Can you keep me posted if you find out how to integrate this please?
-
Aw that's a shame too hear. Raise a case with SW if you haven't already. I doubt they will fix it quickly but at least then it will move up the ranks to the Dev teams. We have raised cases like this before and always had fantastic help once it reaches higher up. The Ireland lot are always top notch.

Try using $ free -m and see what values it gives you. Then try using Top to see how much is being used by your SQL process maybe?
-
I wouldn't worry, it just shows you're going for a promotion.
-
Just to follow on. this is what the screen will look like. Tick as many as you want and then select the highlighted "unmanage now"
-
Thank you for your assistance.
-
No worries I figured the same thing. My SQL knowledge is very lacking. Thank you for looking though

This sounds like one for Solarwinds support if I'm honest. If you can afford down time, I personally would run config wizard when after you complete the steps again. A lot of bug issues seem to be fixed with a re run of config wizard. I know that they are saying its an OS fault or anti virus but I personally doubt that. It…

cs99772 I just tested those for you and mine work. So doubt its related to just those templates. I learnt something new about the 3 post rule, never knew that!

You're too fast, was just going to answer this myself

Thank you! I read about Coca Cola but wonder if it would be a bit gimmicky. Might have to give it ago. Buckhead sounds like a good place to start so I will be sure to take a trip there. Only my second time in the States so I'm really looking forward too it.

Agreed! Solarwinds are sadly behind the curve when it comes to network mapping as a whole in my opinion. I do really like the new maps feature and its a great start but I don't always want to localise it to only a few switches/routers. I want the whole picture. I'm finding I use a combination of Maps, Netpath, Netflow to…

Post of the week for me here
-
Align with Grid! That would be amazing. Nothing worse then spending ages making everything line up only to find one is slight out.
-
Plus it says the same Database. Well technically its will be on a different DB but using the same server
-
Hadn't thought of that, very valid point. I avoid it where possible but to combat that they could change status to use SNMP.
-
Thank you. I have managed to bring the load down below 100% now.
-
Exams They have loads now. Design, NPM, SAM and NTA. I think they were looking into call fast tracking for SCP holders. Not sure if that was confirmed. But regardless you get a cool Expert Badge next to your name Its more of a competency proof exam. I don't think you really get anything special from Solarwinds for it,…
