It is one of the toughest things hiring managers do.... Hire for soft skills in the technical arena. If you find one... great..... if not it takes a lot of care and feeding on the manager's side. great article.

Scooters and Lime - (sounds like a boutique vodka or gin?) I was in San Diego for a conference in August and I was shocked at the number of abandoned scooters that were left on the sidewalks and walkways in both public and non-public areas. It's littering by transportatiion. Profits??? My guess is that the locals and…

Outstanding post rschroeder The us vs. them mentatilty is a killer. I think specialization plays a role in the creation of silos and C-LEVEL IT folks need to foster teamwork and appreciation for everyones knowedge and perspective..... Cakes are not made from one ingredient and neither are successful IT departments.

Terrific job in putting this together... particularly the "points to consider". I have never seen anyone take the time to analyze and articulate the differences. I think the best analogy is that a Service desk is like the server at a restaurant and the help desk are the cooks! (One man's humble opinion).

Plus in certain businesses auditors love it! I refer to the documentation I create as "*** and Jane" basically anyone with a pulse can follow the steps.....Picture,…

Picture the series "Life without humans".... for a while things would be fine. Then slowly at first, thing would break and then a more rapid pace, more things would go awry! With nobody to diagnose or fix them, department groups would die, company divisions would die, companies would come to a halt.... Then out of a dusty…

Great "holiday" edition sqlrockstar! Merry Christmas sir! Carless streets...... I think in certain tight urban areas ,but on a limited basis, it has a chance of working. My only "local experience" is Downtown Crossing in Boston. Would make living and visiting a city more palatable.
