Excellent job.... After too many years to mention of cleaning up after the elephant: Uncle George's rules are as follows: 1. Believe half of what you hear 2. It's a mix of at least two things 3. Have a tool belt. 4. Remember mom's adage that finger pointing leaves three fingers pointing at you. 5. It's your job to fix the…

Great points @"m_roberts" ! Once I started working at home starting in April, in the beginning the days seemed to melt together... (never mind Tuesday.... what he heck happened to Monday????). I finally built a routine and thanks to my outlook calendar it made me more aware and kept my head in the game! Beats being the…

Personally, of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most! That said...... Well said and written. A thoughtful, methodic and determined approach maintains focus and gets much better results.

To a great number executives security is a great idea so long as it: 1. Doesn't apply to them!!! 2. Doesn't slow down the sales process!!! 3. Is not too hard!!! 4. Doesn't cost too much! 5. Our competition does it too!

Automation makes the seemingly impossible... fairly possible. Automation is a tool.... tools help make things easier, but they don't eliminate the normal "important safety tips" of what they were designed to make easier. Jfrazier is right,,,, GIGO !!! As always vigilance and a healthy amount of skepticism is needed.

I wonder if someday Consumer Reports will rate items on Hackability..... Surface tablets... at least Gronk didn't spike it.... Sorry Gillette Stadium is a 12 minute ride from home!!! Overengineering.... as long as there are people who believe that they can make anything better...

I've managed to keep in touch with some very smart folks throughout my career... In the beginning I had a couple of IT mentors... Today I have colleagues that have specialties and interests more diverse than mine. I am happy to have them so I can ask questions, get valued opinions and then make appropriate decisions...

Rick brings up some excellent points. The real bottom line here is "your results may vary!" and "trust, but verify!". Terrific article and one we all are struggling with at some level every day.

True... understanding the whole environment is the key. It cuts down on the finger pointing and creates a team approach to solving the problem. (not always... but your odds definitely improve).

sqlrockstar good stuff... great Jeep! GPA -for a while now there has been talk in academia about grade inflation, that aside I am still dumbfounded as to how much importance is placed on this one item. A true evaluation of anyone ( and I am talking as a prospective employer) is not degree, GPA, or even the school you went…
