Look forward to this change. However since we are a Dell Compellent shop we will have to wait until that is supported.

We also looked at vFoglight also. The think with SolarWinds is it kind of us a jack of all trades. vFoglight will not monitor your Cisco equipment and do other things that SolarWinds does. I like the one stop shop for SolarWinds where there is just on-site for a person to go to and all the data is there. If you just want…

What other products where you looking at to monitor your VMware Hosts?
-
Thanks this explains why I cannot monitor the fiber interfaces since I am on OS v5.2.1.
-
Unfortunately I cannot get a good MIB for the clairon series. I go to Dell and they sent me a MIB file that isn't a properly formatted MIB file. A little frustrated with the entire process.

Thanks fo the feedback Sean. I never noticed any Disk queue length issues for Orion by running it off a SQL cluster on a SAN. That being said I have been noticing some performance issues for Orion over the last several months. Yesterday I moved the 50GB+ Orion database from RAID 5 10K RPM SAN storage with both the MDF and…

You could probably create a report showing you this information. The only problem if you are using Vmotion with DRS then the Guest VM will keep changing Node. So I know for myself when I click on Server Node Details it shows which host has that praticular Guest VM. Maybe a custom report that keys off this field.

I appreciate your response. I am just a little concerned that SolarWinds didn't seem to plan appropriately that people would want to reboot the Orion Server and use advanced alerts. The process for uninstalling the advanced alert engine and reinstalling the service seems very cumbersome to just reboot a server.

I installed SRM 6.2 and I updated EM to 15.1.10.89. Yes, I am getting a better view of volume capacities as long as the Node is monitored via WMI and has the Network Storage Resources monitored. Then it will show correctly. So all my Windows boxes are now displaying correctly. The Oracle RAC node is still displaying…

I am running a Brocade SilkWorm FC switch. I have a valid SNMP string and when I select list resources I only see 2 interfaces the loopback and Etherent Interface for management. This is a 32-port FC switch.

Thanks Mark for the response. I want to be able to take the raw value from a custom poller that is displayed on the website and divide it by 100 and then times it by the Volts of the circuit so I can see the current amounts of Watts being used. Does this make sense?

All you have to do is right-click on a table from within Enterprise Manager (ex. Nodes), then select "Design Table". From within this view, you can select the column to be moved by clicking on the little box beside a column that you want to move, then simply drag to where you want it. We use custom proprties quite…

I don't have anything working. It looks like the MIB's are not loaded in Orion. I have the Storage Processor responding to SNMP queuries. It also looks like I need to get the compiled MIB's from Clariion Engineering which means I will need to open a suport case with Dell to get those MIB's. I am not to interested in the…

< agree that SANs are great for storage of information, however, when you have an application such as Orion adding more information to the database, then if you log into the Website, we have to access this information, at the same time as Orion is writing more information, and for this SANs have historically created a…

I believe that you need to D/L the additional polling engine tuning. This is on the Orion site under additional components.

We are running about 70 VM's on a ESX Cluster. I put each guest VM into Orion for individual monotoring. I then load this software SNMP informant standard http://www.snmp-informant.com/ on the guest VM. This software translates WMI data into SNMP data. I then have custom pollers and I pull the following data points on the…

I have the Document saved locally and it shows H537_3_manage_clariion_snmp_wp_ldv.pdf . You will want to look at the section talking about FibreAlliance MIB subagent which will show you where to turn on SNMP on your SAN. I hope this helps.
-
I will wait patiently for that list. :)
-
We are using EM 2014 R2.
-
Well that is kind of annoying that there isn't better integration between the Toolset and Orion.
-
I have had this issue since 9.5 when we added a second polling engine. Usually it happens about every 2-weeks or so. It has been hit a miss and there has been no consistenty on this. Upgraded to 9.5.1 hoping the issue was fixed and had it occur again a week later. Opened a ticket on it last year and they could never figure…

Kind of defeats the purpose of having a inventory report for Cisco Catalyst Cards when it only pulls router cards and doesn't pull anything on the Catalyst series switches. I am using version 3.5 of Cirrus.
-
Thanks Denny. I am actually a little shocked about about the listing of Virtual Machine that you cannot even sort them. Some of our Dell R900 Hosts have over 60+ VM's on them (not all active) and to have the VM's listed by some type of order that I cannot figure out is very frustrating(what is the order they are listed…

I have SNMP enabled on my Brocade FC switches and ORION doesn't find the FC and Ethernet Interfaces. How did you get Orion to do this?
-
What thread is there for converting a MIB value? The link supplied just leads me back to the forum start page. Thanks,
-
Yes the ability to view the configs from Cirrus on the Orion website.
-
So in order to do a server reboot without setting off erroneous alerts you need to uninstall the alerting engine and then re-install after the reboot? This sounds very cumbersome, is this the best method that SolarWinds can come up with for a Server reboot?
-
Well to me the response time doesn't seem to improve with age. I am sorry but so far V8.5 has not been a real winner in my book so far.
-
My setup is Server2003 32-Bit with Orion SLX version. The SQL database is on a different Server. I would consider my setup very standard. Gbrance, This is the first that I have heard of any directories or data being lost via the upgrade. We have doen extensive beta testing but there are too many possible environments. It…

Yes I do see the other Views for VMware ESX server.
