True, but if you are running SQL Server as the database it will take advantage of the other processor. Also, I imagine that if you are running any of the other Solarwinds modules, they will thread independently.

You might want to consider making a map for each rack, and then a summary map with small images representing all 10 racks. Putting status icons from each of the rack maps onto the summary map will give you a nested set for the ops guys. Sure. Drag the object onto the map. If it isn't already just an indicator, right click on the object and select PROPERTIES. In the properties window, choose an Object Style of LED or SHAPE, then use the pull-down to tune the shape (eg. Large or small LED, or geometric shape for the indicator).

I agree. There is a lot of hype on the web page you mentioned about monitoring ESX and VirtualCenter, but no mention of it in the current manuals. There is also nothing in the knowledge base. Someone at Solarwinds must have the information.

The easiest way, if you are using Outlook, is to add a rule in "Rules and Alerts" that plays a sound file when an email arrives with certain characteristics.
