sign up for adobe distribution if you havent and then download the right version you want here Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe The normal process for adobe products is that we have to manually download it, go to publish the package and it will say there is no d/l available and to choose the source. Since there is…

Can you post back if you get reader DC to update clients from reader 10 and 11? For some reason all my clients detect as not needed even though it says its supposed to update from 9, 10, or 11.

So Lawrence was the patch manager god here at solarwinds before he died and I almost always take his advice as gospel when it comes to wsus and PM. When he says drivers are a bad idea via wsus i just dont even try it. The general consensus on the internet also agrees with him that drivers via wsus is just a bad idea. I…

Im not so sure thats true dang. As long as you get updated admx files for the GPOs they work fine. I have a 2008 R2 domain controller and it works great.

The request threads are here Patch Manager Feature Requests All ill say is dont count on it getting added, but you can always ask. They dont seem to do much with the catalog. Most of the main functionality was added when eminentware owned it and hasnt been changed since solarwinds bought it

Ok so im assuming that you guys are going to publish the new package but still importing the old source file. You need to delete the Java download for 8u45 and download a brand new copy from Java to import when you are trying to publish the updated Java package.
-
they just revised 8u45 on the 6th which caused an infinite install loop and then just revised it again today the 7th. Delete any approved update if you already have 8u45 and then publish 8u45 and get a new download, dont try and use a previously downloaded version of 8u45.

This is a pretty helpful document http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/patchman/docs/PatchManagerAdministratorGuide.pdf

You may need to run the server cleanup wizard several times if its really bad. I know when I found out about it I ran the wizard 16 times i believe and it kept timing out but eventually got better. I now have it run as a scheduled task every sunday night. I also run the sql reindex script now once a week. There are more…

is your evaluation period over? If not put in a ticket with solarwinds and or call them as they are pretty quick to get things fixed when you do.
-
create a custom package and deploy it Deploying Custom Packages with Patch Manager
-
open a ticket with solarwinds, there is a hotfix i believe that fixes this as I have seen it asked here before but I cant readily find the answer

Import this report. You can input any name to search on, such as project, and it will report back for you Intalled Programs with OS and IP.xdq

Ok so flash and air have arrived today if anyone was waiting for it Patch Manager Update Services Patch Manager Server () has synchronized 5 catalogs from Patch Manager Update.. * 8 new packages * 7 revised packages * 0 expired packages New or Revised Security Packages included: 15 including Air 18.x (Upgrade); Flash…

You are not doing anything wrong, thats how it works. I have a task set up to restart all PCs at 330 am and have to remake the task when we remove or add PCs to patch manager. Been that way since the beginning of patch manager.

We are actually delaying patching for a week or so while our test group that normally gets a few days is expanded. The concern is for our Hyper-V stuff that the downtime required to patch everything (all guests have to be turned off while hosts are patched) will have to be done more than once as revisions of the patches…

Just like @dang said, copy the previous one. So go to the adobe packages and right click and copy. On the copy version, rename it as you like, then right click and edit. Change the applicability and installed rules for the new version and upload the content into the package

Also just to chime in with my 2 cents, I cannot get the detection logic to work to install DC through patch manager. My post was ignored so it was either missed or dont care or its just a problem for me

Set a maintenance window with the AU via group policy and then approve updates as needed. I set up a few windows for servers on Saturdays at 5pm 6pm or 7pm and then approve updates throughout the week so that they download right away but wont install until that window time. It takes roughly 30 minutes or less depending on…

I have it reverse with a PM server 2016 and a WSUS 2012 R2 and I needed to put an automation server on the WSUS server to get it to communicate. I would think you will need one there as well

Trying not to sound like a jerk here but one is detailed and one is a summary. Detailed includes info about all updates, if you have any failures, how many are downloaded but not installed yet or installed but needing to reboot to finish the installation, how many arent applicable. The Summary is just a quick glance to see…

So it downloaded and installed the WMI provider which is good but then you have a problem with your certificate for third party updates it looks like. I use GPO to distribute the certificate and there is also a way inside patch manager but i think GPO is the way to go. If you want to test that cert on one PC you select a…

No. The Orion platform is useless for Patch Manager. The only thing it does really is contain the MMC for PM. If you have no other modules its not even worth wasting a DB on installing it.
-
So scheduling the server cleanup wizard to clear out superceded updates every week will do some good. The other thing to do is go to all updates and filter approval: any except decilned and status: any, then make sure you have all filters cleared for approved for computer groups and then sort on the supercedence…

Yes they obviously need to fix this, however, just dont use deadlines. Using deadlines to install updates is not very efficient. In your GPO, set computers to download and install and set the time and day you would like In patch manager, approve updates for target groups when you want them to install. IE, If I have a…

None that I have ever seen but it may be available if you request it via a support ticket?
-
I found the easiest way to get this kind of info is with a broader report that you can input data for Intalled Programs with OS and IP.xdq Import that into your Reporting > Configuration Management Reports > Installed Programs and Features Then just run the report, put in java in the prompt, export it to xls and filter to…
-
If its in its own target group just do not approve any java updates for that target group
-
The rules may end up being a better way but If those 1 or 2 PCs never need it I would just make a target group like No Java or whatever you arent installing and then dont approve it for that group
