For those kind of errors its better to open a support ticket with Solarwinds. They are usually quite helpful in figuring it out
-
interesting about it working from the server, ill have to try mine and see if its the same but im sure it will be. Its extremely annoying and I hope that SW can answer this finally. I know ive asked in here and called support about it with no answer

As far as I know its not possible with Patch Manager. You can use something like PSExec to do that, or use GPO
-
This is a pretty common problem. I suspect it has something to do with the packages that are saved locally but i have no proof of it. The workaround if you are sure you have the correct package is to edit the package and manually point it to the package you would like. I dont currently have screenshots for it but this…

There are technically three flash packages. ActiveX NPAPI (Plugin) APAPI It gets a little confusing because there used to only be 2, the one for IE which is the ActiveX and the "plugin"(NPAPI) version which is for other browsers. There is also now an APAPI version which Solarwinds does not give out packages for that I…

I do not believe so. Ditch Orion for PM, its useless. Unless you already use it for other modules I wouldnt even install it.
-
This looks like the initial config screen? You may want to look at http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/patchman/docs/PatchManagerAdministratorGuide.pdf
-
Just a guess here but it looks like thats a detect now being run and then downloading the needed patches. Is your downstream wsus server set up to d/l from your upstream or from the internet?
-
The stats are not live unless you go into computer explorer for each one and check the update status. The results are only accurate as of the last Detect Now/Report Now. If you dont have detect and report scheduled tasks then you wont get updated stats and youll have to go to a computer/target group and do a detect now to…

It depends on the connections you have to the remote locations. You really only need 1 PAS. The management servers only run the administrative tasks like inventory and discovery. If you are looking at reducing WAN traffic you will likely want downstream WSUS servers in which case it can all be managed by one PAS

For new installs I edit the package before I publish it to include running another MSI and running the uninstall string for the old Java. To clear out all the old ones I found PsExec easiest using the following string. Youll need a list of all PCs you want to run it on saved to a txt file PsExec.exe @(DOCUMENT.TXT) -h -u…

You go through your third party updates and delete any expired or unneeded packages. The easiest way I found is to click on third party updates, then filter for updates with content and just see what you dont need

What settings do you have in your GPO besides the WSUS server?
-
You can definitely control updates for Windows 10 Pro with WSUS and patch manager. Microsoft is walking back on a lot of needing enterprise for everything business related after so much pushback from the community. There are also GPOs that do not respond to a Win10 Pro SKU so familiarize yourself with them because you can…

im not positive this would do what you want but have you tried to change the adapter properties for the nic on affected PCs under TCP/IP V4, advanced, DNS tab, check box for use this connections suffix in dns registrations?
-
It looks like you read the documentation so this may not be helpful but in case you missed it.... Port 135 TCP – RPC Endpoint Mapper The Patch Manager server uses this port to establish WMI connections to remote computers. It also uses this port to connect to the Service Control Manager (SCM) when it provisions the WMI…

Updated today that they are not releasing february updates, they will be put out with march updates
-
are you using sql express on the same server as patch manager or a remote sql server?
-
Im not familiar with the error message but is your WSUS server working? Can you log in to the WSUS server console? Can you ping the WSUS server from the server your patch manager installation is on? Can you ping the WSUS server from your PC?

Web Console error when receiving data portal update Overview This article describes the issue when the Web Console experiences an error when receiving data portal update. Environment All versions of Patch Manager Web Console Cause This problem occurs when an account does not having permission to WSUS Resolution Changed…

You should be able to check for updates a few times and eventually it will go through. If you have a new PC or have a lot of updates to get it can run out of the 200k size limit, so just try to get updates a couple times.
-
Well I dont understand but im sure it will be helpful to someone! Thanks for sharing all these
-
Is this for NPM in Orion? Its confusing because Patch Manager comes with some useless Orion components but this doesnt look like anything that comes with patch manager.
-
I would call solarwinds and open a ticket. You may have to do something with the DBhelper.exe and none of it is ever documented correctly or is ever simple but Brandon Painter is the PM specialist and handles most of the cases and can help you out im sure.
-
It arrived today.
-
It looks like you have an OSD deployment computer you are trying to add? Did you add the client components WMI providers? I imagine its because its not connected to your domain so theres no DNS record for that hostname
-
I totally understand wanting to pre-provision things but... the first time the PC gets a hold of WSUS it should get this automatically. Unless I set it up that way a long time ago and forgot but I think thats a default thing from the patch manager installation.
-
If you went back to the first way of not notifying for the download and set a detection task in patch manager then once that detection ran and determined the computers needed updates they will start to download. If you manually run a detect now it will trigger update downloads as well. I run 2 detect now and 2 report now…
-
Did you check the task history for the install? Sometimes you will be using the wrong package and it will say it completed successfully but that does not mean it has installed, only that it detected as not needed and didnt actually fail.
