I removed the resource from the Node Details page and the raw poller still displays in the Universal Device Poller Status resource (as I would expect, since it is still assigned. Actually going back to the UnDP tool and unassigning the raw poller from a node will succeed in removing the raw poller from the web display.…

Thanks, but I tried that and still the raw poller is displayed on the web page. SolarWinds?

Thanks, margolis. i did that and the file is simply not there. Spock's brain is missing it would seem. One wonders how Orion is even functioning. Can anyone at SW advise if I should download the MIB file and copy it into the proper directory, or is ther a concern of a deeper issue here? Has anyone ever seen Orion install…

OK, what we have here is a failure to communicate! :) Denny, bshopp and Karlo have given slightly different explanations of the alert states in Orion. I can only say that I have repeated my simple experiment and still get the same results. A simple node down alert with no escalation options posts to alert state 2 as soon…

I am now trying to get APM to restart the SNMP service at a set time interval (regardless of the current status) using the Advanced Alert Manager. I have built an advanced alert with the following Trigger: The ANY group may be unnecessary, but I am trying to make sure the alert action takes place regardless of the current…

Yes, it is.

Yann, You said: "Since NTA v3.1, developers created distinct SQL Server filegroups for the NTA tables which allow you to put these tables on different disk arrays to improve performances. It allows you to set up a different backup scenario for the NTA tables instead of having the same for NPM and NTA." Can you provide a…

Can you provide a little more detail? How would I use the Traffic Builder to configure a web view of the IP addresses that a particular user has been visiting?
-
I can think of two things to check. If you have an alert dealing with packet loss, make sure it is not enabled. Also, open System Manager. Go to Advanced Settings on the File menu. Click on the Availability Calculation tab. Make sure that you have Method 1 selected. If you have Method 2 (unlikely) that could explain how…

On page 48: Site The update service is located at updates.ipmonitor.com. This location is hardcoded and cannot be changed. The site is password protected, requiring ipMonitor to use your Support ID to log on. What does this mean?
-
Yann, That does not seem to work. IE gave me an error when I pasted the link you gave into the URL blank of the TRigger Action tab. Shouldn't one just be able to click on an actual component, generate the component details page and past the live URL in? Wouldn't Orion then just substitute the component ID for the one that…
-
Thanks Marie, but I have seen those references before. Neither answers my second question as far as I can tell. Does an advanced alert fire ONLY on the basis of a query of the database?
-
Thanks Denny. So, let me see if I have this right. Component monitors are the fundamental entity that is used to collect data on a process, service, port or user experience. One or more component monitors are assembled into an application monitor (using the application monitor template) which is applied to one or more…

Thanks for that reply pacetti. Another possibility is that it can be done based simply on a change in interface status. In other words, only when a dial back up port comes up do I get an alert. Does that sound feasible? However it seems that if I am polling a node through a WAN port and that WAN port goes down, then I will…

Hmmm. When I edit this Default Summary View to something other than the view chosen for the Home page, the view chosen for the home page loads when I click Home link in the Menu bar. IS this a bug?
-
Thank you EZakes. So, System Manager is functioning as designed? With the functionality attrition rate, how long does SM have to live? :)
-
Thanks for the reply. By the way, have you ever attempted to use the automatic URL generation option? What exactly does that do?
-
Thanks for the replies. Both of you responded as I expected, but I wanted to make sure I was not missing something. So, would you agree that unless you want to universally suppress all conditions on the trigger tab, that you should not use the suppression tab since that is what will happen?
-
Can you double check that file name and location again? I am running version 9 and don't find a file by this name in that location.
-
Andy, Is there somewhere in teh documentation or on the SW web site that you maintain a list of the vendors and models that the NetFlow Configurator will work with?
-
Thanks. I set up the rule just like that and I am still getting Informational messages. Also, when I select messages in the Viewer and try to acknowledge them, they will not delete from the list. Ideas?
-
Your reply makes me realize I asked a dumb question. Updating the Orion MIB database with the latest MIB will not change anything about pollers that are already associated with a node already in the database, whether the poller was native or created with the UnDP. Right?
-
Two days ago.
-
Thanks guys. So, as long as I use two different ports, things should be fine using Server 2003?
-
Do you mean "custom MIB pollers"? I have only configured eight new custom pollers so where does the number 217 come from for pollers? Is this the number of out of the box pollers that run on my Orion polling engine?
-
Scheduled Tasks doesn't give me the option of running the batch file every 4 hours.
-
Another question please. Where is the "Notifications" menu option? Is it called something else now?
-
One other basic question...what is a good, basic definition of a "monitor" in the context of ipMonitor? By the way, ipMonitor seems like it could be described as Orion lite with APM incorporated. Is that a fair characterization?

Really need urgent help on this one. Thanks.
