Mine says: CLI Credentials are missing. To get the information about contexts, security levels and inactive site-to-site tunnels, we need CLI Credentials. Clicking the Add CLI Credentials link it displays leads to the good ole Edit Properties page. The test button for the Connection Profile works find. I use a pre-defined…

I think that Cisco's SNMP team is sometimes overmedicated, or maybe just itinerant, or the 1st to get laid off when the Wall Street quarterly statistics dip. For 2960's we get Machine Type of just Cisco. But there's another field in Physical Entities that I found in Report Mangler called simply, Model, that shows the full…

Using DirectLink may introduce new problems. If you have Windows automatic login enabled, users who have no account get logged in via DirectLink. So you need to limit what this account can see - which may also break your report. In other threads on similar problems, we see evidence that going through the Report Scheduler…

I'm excited that Orion logging is finally being addressed! I've already asked my account rep for pricing. Any idea of cost? We will not buy the product unless it provides all the alerting functionality of NPM logging, however. Another thing I've always said that Orion needs is centralized logging for its own modules. The…

We have a similar problem with dual core Nexus switches that use LACP channels (vPC) with IP based hashes. I made a previous post about a symptom where the final hop was alwasy inflated. I twiddled a setting in the config file: NetPath last hop high latency I haven't had a chance to troubleshoot the config file more on…

I get this same event, 10028, many times a day for multiple servers, too. I tried the fix referred to in: DCOM was unable to communicate in NPM Which is in a KB: SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Event 10009. DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer... But it's not the same thing. =foonly=

I think I found a fix for this particular symptom: Edit C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Orion\NetPath\NetPathAgent.cfg and change: "SendResetPerRoundStandard": to true. It is normally false. It's the very last setting in the file. I then stopped and started all Orion services via OrionService Manager, though I wish I knew which…

I think there's a typo in @azabielki's original post. For our Dell EqualLogic SAN devices, 1.3.6.1.4.1.12740.2.1.11.1.6 returns eqlMemberCacheMode, not the service tag. I think the proper OID is 1.3.6.1.4.1.12740.2.1.11.1.8 However, I find that in our setup, 1.3.6.1.4.1.12740.2.1.11 is a table of all the SAN arrays in the…

To be clear, IP SLA has nothing to do with managing phones or Call Manager. directly. It simulates traffic to determine quality of a path between 2 routers or L3 switches. It can be manually configured to help choose a best L3 route given multiple routes, but I don't think that VNQM has an automatic push of that config.…

I just enabled this alert, and the only hit so far was a false positive from a WS-C2960S-24PS-L that is not stacked. I checked the Release notes for NPM12.1 as of March 14, 2017, and there's no mention of the bug, or slebbon's case. =Foon=

See also Ipam wont update when importing from excel. I have the same question. We do not want to have to use the GUI to add or update custom fields hundreds of objects. For existing Custom fields, you can select the items to change in the GUI, and change all selected items to the same value. But Custom fields may have many…

OK, I think it was because it's used in comic books for the sound of a superhero bringing justice to evil, possibly bug-like, villains: https://books.google.com/books?id=R3odUe_S_34C&pg=PA76&lpg=PA76&dq=the+sound+of+thwack+comic+book&source=bl&ots=tB9LKP6j… Either that, or an oblique reference to Devo's Whip It Good. Devo-…

Thwack - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary Online Etymology Dictionary To me, it's an onomatopoeic word (a word that sounds like an action) for the swooping sound of a stick that suddenly stops when it hits something. So, metaphorically, our conversations are the swooping sound, which ceases with…

I hate to say it, but in 30 years of Windows experience, I have found it true that most uninstallers do not uninstall. They always leave something behind. The guiding philosophy for many uninstallers is not to uninstall, but to make reinstall easier. That's why some companies (antivirus companies come to mind) offer "clean…

This happens on V1.1.0.4 also. What's dying is the systray app, C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\SftpServerScpServerTray.exe. The server exe is C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\SftpServer\SolarWindsSftpServer.exe. It will stay running even it the tray app dies. You might want to start the SolarWinds SFTP/SCP Server…

When installing NTA Storage on a separate server, is the .NET install needed? I'd like to be able to skip if it I can.

Working for the federal govt as a contractor, I must say that many things regarding abuse of rights for us boil down to "If you even attempt to do that, it will be logged. If it is discovered, you will be fired, and possibly prosecuted depending on what it is." The key part is "if it is discovered." So our users have very…

We use a domain user for AppInsight for SQL. Another excellent post noted that the domain user you use for AppInsight SQL access has to be a member of the SQL server's local admin group, and the manuals did not mention it: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-187950 Nevertheless, on one of my systems, the errors I got…

Mine have always said net-snmp (by itself) in earlier versions, though I don't have any Ubuntu. I think the Vendor name and icon chosen are based on the SysObjectID. Each build of NPM has a new set of MIBs. We have some net-snmp servers from Cisco. I have to look at the Node Details to see which flavor of *nix they are. So…

IPAM 4.2 has neighbor discovery, but no mention of specific platforms. They mention specific SNMP OID's in the online manual: http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/en/flarehelp/ipam/#ipv6monitoring.htm?Highlight=discover%20ipv6%20addresses "IPAM IPv6 address discovery is based on the NDP protocol and information is…

I still get the OK, GOT IT at every login - it even shows up in scheduled reports after upgrading a couple of Orion installations from NPM 12.1 to 12.2 with the latest thin installer dated 19 Feb 2018. It says it contains the latest HotFix installer, but doesn't say what that hotfix is, and I cannot find any page in NPM…

We now have the web interface displaying properly after doing the steps from the Success Center properly. There is still an apparent bug with enumerating objects in Cisco 3750 and 3850 stacks if you select just one switch in the stack. Thanks to all, especially moolmanee.m!

We saw this as well after uprgrading from 6.2(10) to 7.2(2)D1(2) and then on to 7.3(1)D1(1), but only on one set of switches. For us, the ports that are reporting it had been configured on 6.2(10), then the config was manually cleaned out, and the ports were disabled. The majority of our ports did not do it. As I mentioned…

IP SLA has an operation called ICMP Path Echo that would do some of this, but I haven't gotten it to work reliably. Plus it certainly doesn't display as nicely in VNQM. The nice thing about IP SLA, though, is that it's relatively impervious to performance spikes on the Orion server. I haven't had the time to play with an…

I agree. I'm still setting things up, and I have to wonder if there's an easier way. We've got many hours invested in the setup. Maybe SW expected me to use the Wizard. No way. I tried that. I ended up with so much confusion due to point to point uplinks. I've been using subnet spreadsheets based on our existing old IP…

We also have this problem, on 3850 switches, running SolarWindsOrion Platform 2014.2.1, NCM 7.2.2, NPM 11.0.1. Will be upgrading soon to NPM 11.5.1 and NCM 7.3.2, but haven't seen a clue whether this problem is fixed. A key aspect of the problem is that in the All Triggered Alerts window on the NPM Summary Page, the…

This is still a problem. I registered for a webinar today, but never received an email as it promised. I think the whole track and follow and registration process needs a diaper change. =seymour=

The TCP packets are obviously making it through. The crafted packets rely on the ICMP response from the device when TTL is exceeded. Check the ICMP settings for the L3 interface on your core to make sure that all ICMP types are allowed.

I think that NTA 4.2.1 will track IPv6 as a protocol for summary of protocols, but does not yet save anything else from actual flows of IPv6 conversations. For example, I cannot setup IPv6 Address Groups. I can't enter IPv6 addresses in any format in the Flow Navigator. So I think adding IPv6 to the protocol list (see…

I am an SCP on the old program. I can see where SolarWinds is trying to go with the subscription model - a new revenue stream, a new benefit to engineers and customers. I like the idea of a subscription that includes some training. All I can say is that it's way too expensive, and unlikely to be approved as an expense by…
