We have LEM today, but infosec is looking at Splunk and their quickness to getting these "plug-ins" are a big advantage in my infosecs opinion. We need more interoperability in all products.

Same for me, but I think it is due to the fact that the bonus questions are only open for 24 hours.... we must be too late...

When I purchased LEM it was to replace a syslog aggregator (LogLogic) that could pull any text log on any system. I thought the LEM would be able to do this especially with an agent on the system. But it doesnt. Please work on a way that the agent can pull a text log file. We have a TON of these that we need in a central…

#10 Rise of the Monitoring engineer.... Well that is 1/2 my job already. Our company realized the automation and alerting was saving the company significant time and money and this needed to be expanded. I very much agree with you and my company is a good example. My title is Enterprise Systems Management Architect (along…

Currently I do not have a good solution. I have two lines in every device, one for Orion for RTCN and the other to LEM. (Thank God for NCM) I see this solution as an action called "forward syslog". That way we can forward items we want to forward and leave the others alone. Remember, we cant really forward logs from agent…

pretty please..... bump...

Just had a meeting with my manager, his manager, and her manager the CTO. While we are looking at things it refreshes.... CTO lays out some choice words at the screen... 2 minutes later it happens again..... choice words are louder and he says fix this and we can talk then.... my only solution is to change the refresh rate…

This one and all that I have clicked on under NPM Feature Requests

Gob made it so easy, a resource with a filter. Why cant Solarwinds create that as a standard simple to use resource? I will try to use your suggestion, but here is my filter, and I think its going to be pretty tough teaching my users to manipulate tables this way. Here is one of our filters: (Events.EventType NOT Like 19)…

byrona I totally agree.... although then I will complain that Kiwi and NPM need to be integrated :-) Solarwinds.... PLEASE put some resources towards this request.... its kinda embarrassing when I explain this to others.
-
Don't forget about this.... :-)

I very much agree TinyElvis Thanks for the query!! But another limitation to the do it your self is that my 50 or 60 users cannot do this. Things like this NEED to be added to this product. API extensions will not help us when it comes to our users and management. please sysdev team.... your our only hope....

look at me..... bump....

Leon, your a HUGE geek going to a HUGE geek convention... You'll be awesome just like you are as a Head Geek at Solarwinds....
-
have you ever looked at a graph for a year for bandwidth? I allways get the question: what happened 3 months ago? and I say, well thats when we went from detail statistics to hourly.... it would be nice if I could skip those questions....:-)

Monday BUMP.... I cannot upgrade past 12.0 until this feature is active..... Exec Mgmt requires we have the filtered events.....
-
For an enterprise installation with many other modules the ability to spread the work is necessary. Our core system is a 32 CPU 32Gb server that works hard to keep up. ALL modules need to be able to use ALL Orion resources.

LOVE that this is now a reality, but its a pain to move them since it must be done one subnet at a time.... (I have thousands of subnets)
-
Should have read closer... But the monitor you speak of still requires powershell (if I have the right one).
-
pretty please BUMP....
-
Funny... 2012 we had over 100 alerts... today in 2018 we have over 700 alerts and many more trap and syslog alerts.... hence we need this, although we are evaluating OpsGenie next week....

This is a touchy subject in many of the places I have worked. So many of these metrics are dependent on other items. For example, the tech that takes the more difficult issues will have less tickets closed and take longer to complete them, but that tech is very valuable due to the type of ticket they close. Hours worked or…
