Great answer Mark. We use it selectively like you said to point us in the right direction as an early troubleshooting tool.

Jfrazier did it today!!! 200K!! Congrats

We have a major issue with timing and our 3 pollers. If time is off by more than 10 minutes all sorts of funky things happen. For some reason our NTP is screwed up.... server guys issue now.... We also find that the IIS application pool needs to be reset about every three weeks. If not the web becomes very slow and…

We are also very interested.

Agree the good well out weighs the bad.... But a good ole gripe session is healthy... nothing is perfect... Most competitors would have a MUCH longer list in my opinion and experience....
-
That is a bit annoying, especially when the discovery finds hundreds of nodes with thousands of interfaces and volumes.... I just run it against my management vlans to get the topology in Atlas and forget the rest.... That in itself in a chore.... wow... this is just a gripe session :-)

I am building some templates this week. So far I have not heard of anyone else doing this. I'll upload my template after we test it for a few days. Thanks
-
ONE alert engine please.... no more syslog and traps being separate.... explaining this to newbies and potential users is embarrasing....
-
We are running 10.1. and if you go into the DB the interfaces are there. I have to delete those in order to clean it up. Thanks!!
-
Looks good in IE 8 and Firefox...
-
What resources is the demo using? How many CPU's and how much memory?
-
This really is a pain when you do network discovery and now I have my two core switches 80 times each in orion.... It would be great if you can look at a device and have a list of IP's on the device (or associated with the interface) and also active vlans....
-
We do a similar backup routine, with RTCN's and baselines with nightly backups in case the RTCN missed. We also use the export job to export all the configs to a directory that we copy to a thumb drive every so often.
-
Plus during the move none of your nodes on the "moving" polling engine will be monitored. Moving the nodes to your main polling engine is fairly quick and easy and may save you from some surprises....
-
its just a more expensive and longer plane ride.... but its worth it
-
The agent will not provide netflow data. BUT, with the agent you can see the interfaces statistics such as errors, data rates like bps, pps and you can chart this over time.... example:
-
I have similar issues, I figured 10.3 will help with the CDP.... can't wait!
-
I would like to be a part of the beta/RC program is possible. Thanks!!
-
Do you know if this is fixed in v11? We need to create a page with many trap resources and we cant tell the difference between each without the ability to see a custom title. Thanks!!
-
Thanks!!! Now I know I'm not going crazy
-
Is there some way to get "generic" syslogs into it? If I can just have them in the DB then at least I can do basic searches...
-
I usually set the unknown interfaces as unmanaged or "unplugged" so that I keep the historical data for later use. Helps when managers ask " what was the trend two months ago?"
-
I tried this, but it looks like it will have to be an SQL report. I am not that great with SQL so I will pass this on to a co-worker and see what he thinks.... I'll update if I have anything useful.
-
Is this service release available yet?
-
I Am very interested in this
-
followed the readme twice but it never came back with the correct log in the log file....
-
I will give it a vote! We bought a dev lic of NPM and SAM but cant really justify the NTA, IPAM, VNQM, NCM etc... Testing for change control would be oh so nice.... :-)
-
curtisi Is there a big CPU or memory hit by adding netflow?
-
Actually both. I'm a bit greedy I guess.... I am able to get a login via ssh and I think I could manage to build a template for mass changes but I would really like to have the config available and archived. We have about 300 APC UPS's and changing passwords and other things is not a good time.... I noticed your company…
-
another suggestion: Bulk addition of DHCP servers. I have over 200 servers to add and at 1 at a time, its taking forever.... and that doesn't include all my VoIP scopes on my Cisco L3 switches..... fun fun.... NOT On the positive side.... when done this will be WAY better than what we had!!!
