  • Otto, Have you upgraded to NCM 7.3 yet ? We have 4 additional pollers, and just upgraded from 7.2.2 to 7.3 and are trying to determine if its possible to rollback due to the workload created. Each of our pollers manage approx. 1,000 nodes, but historically we've always had NCM running only on main engine in a centralized…
  • Hi Stephen, Do you have any custom properties defined and populated? If so, did you experience any issues related to custom properties after ugprading to 10.4.1 ? btw: what version were you running prior to upgrade ? I saw this posting re: 10.4.1 upgrade and now I'm concerned…
  • This is of interest to us at well. Hot topic for us as we it was possible using Cacti (but we have replaced it with Orion). We do have IPSLA module as well.
  • did you ever get this working? we are having same issue.
  • dtango2010, If you have h3c gear and need to see improvements in npm - please vote up this feature request. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/2647 ellen.
  • I second this enhancement request.
  • Richard, we are considering upgrading from npm 11.0.1 -> 11.5.1 next week. Now that you've been on it for a few weeks, are you glad you upgraded, despite the issues you experienced, or do you wish you waited? appreciate you thoughts. Ellen.
  • AndyCoates - thank you - precise info I was needing. worked great.
  • Rob, do you know where i can find the alert migration log? we just upgraded to 11.5.2, alerts migrated, but someone clicked the banner message, now I can't find the transcript to review alert migration. ellen.
  • VNQM doesn't appear to be reportable (ie: HTTP Operations) using Web reporting tool. Showing historical data such as Operations metrics is best done in graph form unfortunately the restrictive REPORT WRITER can't effectively show this kind of data in a presentable fashion. Are there plans to add VNQM visibility to Web…
  • Thanks funkymonkey. Works great. Using NPM v10. Has anyone added one of their node custom fields to this handy resource, ie: SiteName?
  • Works great. Very nice. Thank you Gob. We are running NPM 11.0.1. I installed it on our test box, no issues with installation procedures as your steps are clearly described.. We are planning to install this on our production NPM 11.0.1 - does anyone know of any reason why we should not install on a production NPM 11…
  • etucker - are you using NPM 9.5 or 10 ? If using NPM v10 - you do not need to download this tool, as solarwinds incorporated it into this release. To find it, web console, Admin, Manage Views, select view you wish to add Advanced Syslog resource to, select Add Resource, goto "Syslog" - select "Advanced Syslog Parser",…
  • NPM 9.1 SP4 with Advanced parser v.1.0.2 works beautifully. Follow instructions to the letter and all is good. Love the msg rate chart & ability to access via Telnet/SSH to affected node directly from syslog parser page. Gob - you are the best.
  • We experienced same issue with exporting to pdf for https. We did determine it was only affecting those users who accessed website via IP rather than server name (as per certificate). Advised clients who wanted to use this feature to please access website via name.
  • Totally agree with best practice of using loopback0 for all sources (logging, snmp, tacacs etc) for consistency. However that aside, Orion is not YET capable of being aware of a router with multiple IP addresses and aware of network reachability (ie: hsrp) hence one of the main reasons some companies are hesitant to pack…
  • I know this post is old, but wondering if you have had success in monitoring Cisco GSS appliances.
  • We are looking to do the very same. Don't want ALL snmp traps going directly to Orion (avoid all eggs in same basket). Did you ever implement an intermediary trap receiver ?
  • Are servers physical or virtual ? Agree with aLTeReGo on looking at DB performance when experiencing sluggish web. By any chance are your orion web pages containing resources that might be more intensive ie: summary or network wide ?
  • Hi Brett, Did you ever have success in getting your SG900 (blue coat) devices backed up in NCM ? We have same appliances and would be interested if you made progress. Likewise if we have success we will publish info. Ellen.
  • Hi Jodros, I submitted a feature request to add h/w monitoring for H3C gear. Please vote up this feature request - here's the link to feature request. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/2647 ellen.
  • Jodros, Any success in environmental monitoring of H3C gear yet ? I was hoping NPM 10.3.1 would include this new gear from HP/3COM merger, but doesn't appear to. Ellen.
  • Hi Jodros - we too are implementing H3C in our major datacenters. Looking to add more that basic interface monitoring as well. I will follow your question in case someone out there has written custom poller and responds. We are implementing S5800's.
  • Hi Lauren.Schroeder, routing tables have their own polling interval. You should check 2 places. 1. This will let you know the global setting for all nodes which are polling routing tables. Do a query of your 'Settings' table. (Select * from Settings). you should find a row "NPM_Settings_Routing_RouteTable_PollInterval". 2.…
  • You can modify cisco switch configurations such that the inline power events are not logged on all or specific ports. Here's an example of how you would turn off this logging on a particular switch, for a range of ports. Example to turn off this particular logging event for range of ports on a single switch/stack…
  • Greetings spugatch, I was registered for netflow session but unfortunately missed the webcast. Suggestions on where I can find the recording would be appreciated. E.Penney.
  • Morang, Did you try the suggestions Lutherapalis suggested? We have just started trying to enable netflow export on an ASR 1001 - and it resulted in 99% memory being consumed almost immediately. Stopping export doesn't release memory, had to reload. I will suggest we try the above on our secondary ASR. Epenney
  • Solarwinds support resolved issue by providing a modified stored procedure for nightly section which performed UDT delete orphans maintenance. However CAUTION - all was fine until we upgraded SAM 5.0.2 -> 5.5 this somehow resulted in the modified Stored procedure getting replaced by the original. Back to nightly taking 2-3…
  • We are experiencing a very similiar issue. Through process of elimination we discovered it was Openview NNM polling that was having the greatest negative effect on 6513 cpu. Orion did not appear to be a neg factor. Our chassis is pretty loaded, so our Orion polling is 120sec for polling and 10min for statistics. This topic…
  • Same NPM version, exact same issue. We use Firefox (v3.6.13) exclusively for Orion web admin, as we found IE (v7 & v8) to be very buggy - we believe IE to be responsible for nodes going missing from our DB with no trace/event log to account for it. Since upgrade NCM (config module) we can no longer use Firefox to LIST…
