@"jeremymayfield" funny I was around 30 when the SW Engineers Toolset first came out. I remember thinking wow someone finally tried to put a GUI on the Cisco devices after years of using the command line for everything! Bill

I think I'm getting some of this by just it happening now...

I agree data isn't all the same. We have many types of data in the industry I'm in. The list of acronyms goes on on and on. Another thing I've noticed lately is Google doing these surveys and paying us for taking them... it's a lot of extra information they are collecting. It's interesting to see Google actually paying for…

I had the deep sea diver setup too!

I wouldn't have advised doing that at all... you did the right thing.

Another mission! Geesh this year has gone by so fast already. I can't believe it's almost halloween. Bill

This true and complicated even more if it's an air gapped network you have to "visit" to keep an eye on.

We're trying to move as much as we can away from Solaris to Linux now. Some of our development tools like IBM ClearCase and Clearquest are running on mostly Solaris now but can run on Linux. It all needs to be tested and proven though which is a big task. Another thing that stinks about Solaris is that unless it's x86 you…

That's ironic... the worst would be missing mission master status over that... I've been one before but not this year! Bill

Fast broadband.... Personally I'm way more worried about the OPM breech... most in there were the exact opposite of criminals.

Thanks Crystal!

It's another dumb idea really... like was stated a PoE port plus most likely not Cat3 cable more likely same as everything else Cat 6e or 7e or something... can't be cost effective at all. I'm sure the cabling companies LOVE THE IDEA and of course the switch makers... waste PoE port for a light... what???

Ironically many of us do have multiple networks and even standalone networks which exist not only in a sandbox but also are air gapped from the entire world. The key you stated was making sure there is interfacing between groups going on. This may need to be forced a little at first but people learn pretty quickly that it…

That one tesla that careened through a truck through the air and ended up in someone's yard and decapitated the guy probably wouldn't be considered good.
-
Yeah there are more peeps with closed off networks then you probably would think. ;^}

That's true Rick but unfortunately convenience will beat out the environment any day just about... I'm not saying it's right. I did study environmental science during my undergrad as an elective science course (I took 2 classes). I will tell you I've never been more ill after leaving class than I did then and it was in…

The latest version of NPM has ACI monitoring btw... it would be nice to add some ISE info as well. What were thinking you wanted to see from ISE in Orion?
-
Maybe but where do you draw the line when people try to put full page reports into area 2"x3"? Shrink them down to 2 point type and draw the graphs in a tiny area I suppose...

Super! Also, you’ve got mail! “Unlimited storage on the company server is AWESOME!!!”
-
Yeah it was there just not verbatim.

You're right Jfrazier if DNS doesn't work both directions... it's a recipe for some really bad bad sometimes very difficult things happening that are not always easy to recognize right away either... sometimes it seems almost too simple but is VERY easy to overlook from my experience! adatole get's to live out of his…

In addition to the labs we've all been doing for a while this is nice too! You need some badges Jennifer!

woohoo! Today's was an easy one! I like the survey ones!

Not sure what to say about Marriott and they're our selected primary provider... ugh!

Yep you guys showed me there's a lot of Irish and Scottish whiskey (they mostly taste like Scotch to me but...) folks on Thwack.

We always did: Custom Auto: Non-scoped and non-compensated semi-auto centerfire guns with external modifications not permitted under Production Auto criteria. This includes all double-stack Para-Ordinance and STI 2011 1911s and other customized guns. Our STI was the way it was from the manufacturer but non really standard…

We do love us some VMAN here in the USA too!

NPM, NTA, NCM, SAM, Virtualization Manager VCops for VMware VCloud, NSX SCOM NetApp stuff for Netapps... although we also have the ancient Storage Manger that needs to be replaced doing EMC storage. Probably need SRM instead in our main Orion instance. Used to use Airwatch but that's being replace by some other device…
