If it's a web app you can run WPM recording of actual user behavior on regular cycle from across your WAN. Many application are just html5 web applications these days. This will show you actual user perspective stats accessing the applications they use every day over time.

Since it looks like snmp is working maybe try status polling with snmp instead of icmp?
